My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I really love being in nature—hiking in the redwoods, walking on the beach, enjoying the view from the top of a mountain, biking in the park or sailing on a warm, sunny day. I find that experiences are much more satisfying than material possessions. Maintaining my own health and well being is very important to me, and to that end, I do a lot of cooking at home, exercise, minimize stress and try to have fun whenever possible. I believe that being kind is better than being right, but of course that's not always so easy. I give people the benefit of the doubt. I can push back when necessary and I can be judgmental, but I try not to be. My tendencies are to be honest and straightforward, and find value in life. I love good design, learning new things and have a life long interest in personal growth, which I am finding to be more about learning and self-acceptance rather than fixing, changing or making myself "better." Being in the present moment is a great equalizer.

I'm looking for a man to share my life with. He is also interested in maintaining his health and well being, and knows how to take care of himself. He is curious, attractive and loves the outdoors. He doesn't need to prove himself...he shares my interests, but has some interests of his own that I can learn from too, in other words, we are not carbon copies of each other. When we are together, it feels like home--fun, open, easy, great conversations, lots of passion and laughter and continual growth, discovery and mutual support and respect.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have been a self-employed graphic designer for the past 20 years and am grateful that even in this economy, I am still able to meet my financial obligations and then some, and I like my work. I love to be inspired by music, art, people, nature, beauty and life, and these days, one of the most important things for me is to keep my awareness in the present moment, to be there fully.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening for what someone is really saying. I love to learn and try new things. I'm good at happily being by myself, but I feel I need help with this, as sometimes I think I am just too independent for my own good. I can be shy. I am a good friend, and while I am all for supporting my friends, I think it is important to let people be who they are and make their own mistakes, as we are each unique, so what’s good for one person, may not be the best for another.

My smile (I have dimples that are pretty large) and I am curious about who people are.

I don’t have very much time to read on a daily basis, except for
the newspaper, and I enjoy listening to NPR. The last 2 books that I have read and really liked was "The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business" by Charles Duhigg and "How Will You Measure Your Life?" by Clayton Christensen… Movies I like are thought-provoking, inspirational, entertaining and unpredictable. Lincoln, Seven Psychos, The King's Speech, Crash, Up In the Air, High Fidelity, I Loved You For A Long Time, The Motorcycle Diaries, Diva, Pulp Fiction, The Big Chill, Munich, Babel, Outsourced, As Good As It Gets, Helvetica, Memento… I love world music, chanting, jazz, blues, rock, reggae, classical, not much for rap, heavy metal or country western music. Food—healthy, vegetarian, seafood, ethnic (Japanese, Indian,Thai, Ethiopian, Mediterranean, or any type of restaurant that uses fresh food cooked in a healthy and creative way). Oh, and I love spicy. Not burn your mouth, but I like a nice kick.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Being in Nature
Caring and being cared for
Learning and experiencing new things
The feeling of being in the body
Eating well
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
• Being in the present moment.
• What a tough job President Obama has.
• How can I play more and work less.
• The beauty in this world and being inspired.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hmmm...mostly these days I'm at home winding down from the work a good dinner, having some wine, streaming a movie or series, currently rewatching West Wing...I loved it when it was first on, and appreciated it now even more...brilliant writing, shot like a movie, very educational and when it makes me laugh, I am amazed at the wit.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I wish the world these days moved a bit slower.

You like live music, museums, being out in nature hiking, sailing (I have a big yearning for this!) hanging out, cooking together, going to lectures on various topics, or want to explore/learn/experience something new. Let’s start slow and easy and see how things develop. Thanks for dropping by.
