Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a simple man. I like pretty, dark-haired women and breakfast
I just moved to NYC from Columbus, Ohio to take a job as a
cartoonist for an entertainment company in Manhattan. No really,
people pay me a living wage to draw cartoons. Yes, it's pretty fun.
I'd also like to get into stand-up.
If I could describe myself in two words, they'd be
'socially-capable hypernerd.' Are hyphens cheating? But seriously,
I'm pretty damn nerdy, so uh, be prepared for that.
I love learning and trying new things, obscure vocabulary words,
acting like an idiot, and hilarious GIFs of animals acting like
I'm honestly not looking to jump into anything in the near future.
Having started a failed domestic experiment fairly early, I've got
two young kids who live with their mother in Ohio, but are a big
part of my life. I don't want or expect anyone to get involved with
that, but that doesn't mean I don't want to meet some cool people
to hang out with or hit the town.
ESFP, if that means anything to you.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Basically, I'm a cartoonist. I like to dress it up with
"illustrator" or "artist", but at the end of the day I draw stupid
pictures with stupid jokes, and I get paid reasonably for it.
I like bars, board games, all kindsa nerd stuff, and generally
meeting new people.
On the side, I create pathetic online dating portfolios.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh, having endless conversations about pop
culture. I'd say board games, but my win rate is probably like 30%.
I love hearing new opinions and debating! I can learn
Also, I have the phone numbers of basically everyone I talk to
regularly memorized. #weirdtalent
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I like anything by Dennis Lehane or Nick Hornby. Read them Game of
Thrones books, those were good. Dune is my favorite book of all
time, and I will never read Atlas Shrugged because everyone who has
ever recommended it to me had a terrible belief system. I usually
just pick something up and if it catches my attention, I'll read
it. I just finished The Last Unicorn, and it's one of the best
books I've ever read.
I'm a huge movie buff, but I love Coen Brothers movies with a
fervor bordering on fanaticism. It affects my personal life. I like
your typical geek stuff like superhero movies and Tarantino films,
and I often fall asleep at night by watching completely random
documentaries, which I then have to watch again several times
because I keep falling asleep. One of my hobbies at the beginning
of every year is to watch every single movie nominated for an
I love Adventure Time because fuck you cartoons are awesome, The
Daily Show, Community, Parks and Rec (Andy Dwyer is my
non-culturally-appropriative spiritual companion), Breaking Bad,
Game of Thrones, etc. I'm a Netflix-binger.
For music, I alternate seamlessly between bluegrass/folk and top
40. As long as the lead singer isn't screaming at me, I'll probably
listen to it. Story songs are the best.
I rarely play video games aside from League of Legends (I have a
problem) any more, but I love them from a social perspective, if
that makes sense.
PS: If your favorite movies and favorite books lists are almost the
same, I will probably like you.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My friends and family, my (art) tablet, League of Legends (help
me), books, good jokes, and the tiny arc reactor that keeps
shrapnel from reaching my heart.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I just moved here and I rarely have plans. If it's Friday and
you're reading this, let's do something!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I was a kid, I was afraid the rhythm was going to get me.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Funny girls are my weakness. If you do silly voices and have a
quick smile, I'm a goner. Beyond that, I'd just like to meet
someone cute who can hold a good conversation about pop culture,
politics, games, whatever. If you can talk about the finer points
of No Country for Old Men and then transition into a fierce debate
about what the best platform game ever is, we'll get along
famously. Seriously though, I'm probably judging you mostly on your
taste in books and movies.
Also, be nice to strangers, don't judge people you don't know, be
open and sharing with the things that you're blessed to have.
Seriously, I am so sick of mean girls. Y'all mean, yo. That used to
be a bad thing. What happened?
I'm really bad at messaging people sometimes and really good at it
other times. If I didn't message you (or message you back), I might
just be perfecting my draft. Please, preempt me by messaging me
