I am sweet, fun loving, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

How can someone summarize themselves?

I'm rather easy going... for the most part. I'm honest, loving, and sensual. My focuses are to learn and to love... and to enjoy every bit of it. I love culture and therefore languages, and would love to learn more. I severely overuse ellipses... seriously. Passion and compassion are two traits I gravitate towards. I'm open minded and enjoy good conversation with likeminded people... plus the occasional heated discussion with others.

You want specifics???... Quiet at times, but more assertive than you can imagine when I'm passionate about something. Up for just about anything, I want to try everything possible. Awe inspiring landscapes can make me cry. Plastic people bore me. I love taking my class outside when it rains to dance and jump in puddles. Blue, black, and silver are my colors. Dali was my first inspiration. Pleasure gives me goosebumps. I love curling up after a hot shower. I love hosting international travelers. I love traveling internationally. I love Couchsurfing and the community it creates. Liquor makes me talkative. Great music, great food, and great movies are almost as nice as great company. I crave touch. Laughter makes my world go 'round. I've found that beauty is in abolutely everything. I have an obsession with PostSecret. I'm a tad naughty. I inadvertenly 'tune out' whenever horribly pompous people thrill themselves with the sound of their own voice... however.. if you're normal, I love to listen. Random acts of kindness should be the goal of our lives. I live to learn. People who are comfortable around children intruige me. I am multitalented and multidimentional. Conversely, everyday is humbling. I have an obsession with PostSecret.

Well, I just re-read that, and ended up deleting about 3x what you see now. Turns out I'm not the most concise person in the world when typing. Oh well.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a preschool teacher, have been for 10 years, and love every second of it. Where else can I make sand castles and go on underwater adventures, pretend to be an elephant amongst 20 other little elephants and stampede through savannahs, and help to form the upcoming great minds of the millenium? Instilling in children a love of learning with a compassionate soul and a curiosity of the world around them is both my passion and delight. I love to see that first spark of knowledge form! On the other hand, I learn something new every moment with them. And, no, it's NOT babysitting. However, I've taken two years 'off' to relax a little while making more money. Unfortunately, teaching isn't one of those things society puts a whole lot of value in... for some strange reason... and we aren't paid as well as lots of other less important things. Bleh.. don't get me started.
I'm also an artist, and spend a good amount of time creating. I love immersing myself in a painting for hours on end... Or getting covered in clay while allowing it to form itself into something interesting... Or feeling the heat of the forge while you're hammering away on a piece of metal. Or seeing the fine dust billowing out of the planer that's fine-tuning your next tabletop.
On that note... I'm looking for a cool children's book writer that wants a cool illustrator to work with. ;)

I’m really good at

cooking, art, and working with children. As for the art... mine's not everyone's cup o' tea, I'm sure. But it's decent enough for me. As for working with kids, I have a sort of knack for creating an exiting environment where children learn naturally through curiosity and exploration... without really knowing that they're learning. And for some reason, I can garner their respect and love pretty easily, which makes it all smooth and lots of fun.

I'm pretty good at a few other things, as well, but we'll leave it there for now. ;)

The first things people usually notice about me

is my crazy hair. Other than my hair, which is always the first thing people comment on for some reason, it would have to be my initial shyness. I'm alot of things that my initial shyness sometimes hides at first.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Movies... well, I admit I have a bit of a movie problem. I remember going to the theater with my little bro for all day moviefests. 5 or 6 in a row. In the movie store, I probably head to foreign or independant films, then make my way around the new releases. My favorites include Amelie, Dancer in the Dark, Requiem for a Dream, Y tu Mama Tambien, 12 Monkeys, Baz Lhurman's Romeo and Juliet, Baraka, Nightmare Before Christmas, Science of Sleep, Spirited Away, Pieces of April.. and lots and lots more. I'm always up to watch a movie.

Music... Where do you begin? Radiohead, Bjork, Tool, Portishead, PJ Harvey, Eels, Ella Fitzgerald, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, NIN, Ani Difranco, Rage Against the Machine, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Cash, and if I keep typing you'll be reading this list for hours.

Books... definitely depends on my mood at the time. Lots of Science/Physics books/mags, some metaphysical, some leaning to spirituality, some fiction. etc... Favorite authors include Khalil Gibran, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Herman Hesse, Pablo Neruda, Paolo Coehlo, Chuck Palaniuk, to name a few. Oh, you can throw Stephen Hawking and Brian Green in there, too.

Food-goodness, I can probably go on forever. I love to cook and love to eat, and am always finding new favorite concoctions out and about or in my own kitchen. I love Italian food and Mexican food, but then again, I love Thai and Japanese. Who am I kidding? I love it all, especially cultural cuisines made by loving hands. One of my favorites to make is a pan seared tuna in a ginger shitake soy cream sauce. Maybe with some pilaf. Yum.

The six things I could never do without

Interaction with people, old and new
Experiencing places... nature, architecture, history
Art... exploring myself and others through creativity
Meditation and becoming self aware
The laughter, smiles, open hearts and open eyes of children
Passion in every sense of the word

I spend a lot of time thinking about

ideas for art projects I'm doing or want to do in the future. Sometimes I try to wrap my head around things like gravitons,P and D-P branes, and their interactions within the tweaks of M theory. Or thinking about dropping it all to go backpacking internationally, somewhere less developed than last time. Or sex.

On a typical Friday night I am

Who knows? I might be relaxing indoors from a long week with a good movie and chatting with roommates. Or cooking up a storm. Or going out for a meet up with friends. Or painting in the studio. Then again, maybe I'm just doing laundry while watching the food network or history channel.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a fairly open book, so it's hard to nail something like that down.

You should message me if

something here resonates with you. Or you want to skydive, and are like me in that I'm dying to go, but are just hesitant enough to not want to go solo. Or you know a good hiking spot. Or a good spot to have a drink after work. Or you just wanna hang out for a bit and see what goes.
