I am quiet, open-minded, and inquisitive.

My Self-Summary

My name is Owen.

I think I'm pretty easy to get along with, so long as you're open-minded, not overly moody, and at least a little patient. A broad sense of humor doesn't hurt either. I can be quite empathetic/sympathetic and compassionate, and more than willing to lend my help...so long as I don't feel that it exceeds reason or goes unappreciated.

Actually, that's not entirely true; let me digress. I've been told that my expectations are too high for others to be expected to fit them...Perhaps, but I don't think so. It just comes down to respect.

I am a fierce individualist. I consider myself a Libertarian and I admire similar values in others, though I don't hold politics in high regard on the whole. I have one piercing, but no tattoos...yet. I love thunderstorms and hot tea.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College and I've recently started playing with a band; we're working to promote our new album.

I’m really good at

listening, debating, cooking, writing, playing guitar and bass, singing, and songwriting...at least, I'd like to think so.

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably that I seem reserved at first meeting. I have been described as "quiet and down-to-earth".

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Authors: Richard Dawkins, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, R.A. Salvatore, Bram Stoker, Anton LaVey, Oscar Wilde

Movies: Religulous, Office Space, The Lord of the Rings, 300, Snatch, Mouse Hunt, Secret Window, Batman Begins, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, The Prestige

Music: AC/DC, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Alice in Chains, Apocalyptica, Backyard Babies, Black Sabbath, CKY, The Cult, Dio, Don Felder, Dope, DragonForce, Foghat, Guns N' Roses, Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard, Howard Shore, Jimi Hendrix, Kansas, Killswitch Engage, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Motörhead, The Nightwatchman, Paul Stanley, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sammy Hagar, The Scorpions, The Seatbelts, Sister Sin, Slayer, Social Distortion, Stone Temple Pilots, Tony C & The Truth, Velvet Revolver, The Who

Food: Sushi is my favorite, but I'm not too picky.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Philosophy, music, writing and literature, biology, the universe, and other random shit.

On a typical Friday night I am

Reading, listening to or playing music, hanging out with friends...In any case, probably not out clubbing.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I don't have all that much to hide really. Just ask if you want to know something. But here are couple of things that are worth a mention:

I have never had sex--hopefully not to be confused with naivete or prudishness.
My primary love language is physical touch (and quality time is secondary). A warm embrace makes me feel far more loved than any gift. In fact, I'm not crazy about holidays in general, and yeah, that includes birthdays.

Again, not really private, but whatever.

You should message me if

you'd like to know me better, if you share my love for music and the arts, if you enjoy meaningful conversations rather than smalltalk, if you spit in the face of convention, if you like to form your own opinions and conclusions. A streak of spontaneity is nice and intelligence is sexy.

Don't message me if you are shallow, asinine, conceited, or any combination of the aforementioned. Nor should you bother if you're more than five years from my age. If you are religious (except in the poetic sense, Einsteinian pantheism, for example), I may find it difficult to respect you, but it's more important that you're not a bigot or a hypocrite. Oh, and don't message me if you're dead set on marriage and kids. I'd prefer that a relationship be based on love rather than obligation...silly me...
