I am one, two, and three.

My Self-Summary

I generally tend to describe myself as an amalgam of things that I like because it's easier to list things that I enjoy than to try to summarize myself in a concise self-summary or narrow down precisely who I really am as a person. Nevertheless, I suppose I'll make some effort though to categorize myself. Like everyone else, I vary according to the situation. It would be fair to call me very laid back; not because I'm a pushover, but rather because I'm not very picky when it comes to a lot of things like what/where to eat, what to do, etc. When it comes to something I actually care about, I can be fairly stubborn, but not unreasonably so.

I consider myself to be a very logical person in most respects and enjoy a good argument. Along those lines, I choose my words carefully, always aiming for precision. I could also probably be described as pedantic. I know better than to correct someone's grammar in most situations, but I notice and I judge quietly. Much of that might make me sound boring to many, but like I said, I vary depending on the situation. Whereas I'm logical in most respects, that doesn't stop me from having rather bizarre tastes in the arts (as can be seen below), nor does it stop me from enjoying random adventures nor from acting like an idiot while drunk.

I suppose I should also address why I've made a profile here. I've never actually attempted to date someone from the internet and while I'm not opposed to it, I'm not necessarily expecting to either. I mostly just enjoy browsing other people's profiles and occasionally commenting on them. If something comes of that, cool, but I'm not too concerned about it.

What I’m doing with my life

I've recently graduated from a top law school and taken the CA bar exam. Currently I'm biding my time for the next couple of months as I await the results of the exam and try to find a worthwhile job in this fabulous economy.

I’m really good at

I suppose that depends on what is meant by "really good." I consider myself to be good at most things, but not really great at anything in particular. I'm undefeated in quarters though, so I guess that's something.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I don't read for pleasure as much as I ought to, but some favorites include: Jesus' Son, Crime and Punishment, War and Peace, The Stranger, Naked Lunch, and The Silmarillion. Currently "reading" Les Chants De Maldoror

Music: really too many to list. I enjoy indie, post-punk, shoegaze, post-rock, punk, classic rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, black metal, death metal, doom metal, thrash metal, power metal, industrial, EBM, powernoise, noise, drone, neofolk, older rap, classical, basically most genres. Just for kicks though, top ten bands probably: Skinny Puppy, Coil, Opeth, Can, Radiohead, Blind Guardian, Neutral Milk Hotel, Reverend Bizarre, Leviathan, and Current 93.

Movies: I've seen a ton of movies, so as with music, it's tough to pick favorites, but I guess I'll go with Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway,
Dark City, Happiness, Groundhog Day, The Royal Tennenbaums, Twelve Monkeys, Grosse Point Blank, Chinatown, Citizen Kane, Godfather I & II, Vertigo, etc.

Television: Carnivàle, Twin Peaks, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Arrested Development, Futurama, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Moral Orel, 30 Rock, etc.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
