What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Dancing to a different drummer as usual (although my personality rating says that I'm not spontaneous- which I just don't fathom). My life has always been involved with the visual arts. Currently I teach art to elementary school children from which I derive a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure. Worked many years in graphic design- managing a studio, art directing. Love to draw and paint. Spend many hours at galleries and museums. Energize by exercising 4-5 times a week to feel good both mentally and physically and to keep trim. I spend time with my wonderful friends and kids ( son- 24, daughter-22) talking, cooking, and laughing a lot. All the arts - music, dance, literature, film are my favorite ways to spend time. But don't peg me for an uptight high brow person. Hiking in snowy woods, kayaking (tried it last summer and want to do more), being on or near the water- well just makes me feel more alive and peaceful. Oh and I have a Welsh Pembroke Corgi.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
In general, I have very eclectic tastes in almost everything. I read mostly non-fiction - this could be almost any topic but I especially like works about art history and theory, history, travel, politics, economics. Recent books I've read- "The Gift," by Lewis Hyde, "de Kooning: An American Master," and "Just Kids" by Patti Smith. As for fiction last few read were- "Love in the Time of Cholera," by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and "The Enemy," by Lee Child. Read the Times especially the Friday paper with all the weekend art news and the Op Ed page. Movies: Anything directed by Scorsese- ("Raging Bull" is my favorite,) "The Usual Suspects," "The Three Amigos," any Star Trek film, "I'm Not There," "Cave of Dreams," and "Pina: A Film for Pina Bausch," and so many more. Food: try to eat healthy but can't resist junk comfort food occasionally. Really good dark chocolate- Lilac Chocolates are fantastic! And of course Mallomars are the the best cookie in the world. All types of ethnic foods. Love trying new food. Shows: At this point I'm less into Broadway musicals, more into off-Broadway, although I don't get to the theater as much as I would like. Music: You may guess at this point that I like all kinds of music with the possible exception of rap, nor have I been a huge opera fan in the past. I like the music they play on WFUV, blues, 60's, 70's, etc. rock, jazz (would like to listen to more), classical (not an expert here). Some favorites: Dylan (of course), Mark Knopfler, David Byrne, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and many more.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Ah...but then it wouldn't be private. Does anyone ever fill this in?
