My Self-Summary
I really like to create things.
I am very interested in environmental issues, but I wouldn't consider myself an activist. I really appreciate nature and have a good relationship with it. I am a big advocate for organic farming and Community-Supported-Agriculture.
I am an INFP (introverted, intuitive, feeling, perceiving). That pretty much sums it up.
What I’m doing with my life
I work at Barnes & Noble, and I think its a good job for now. I have a manager who holds a PhD in Classic Literature and also enjoys watching Inu Yasha. He is the type of person I want to be when I am older.....maybe not the Inu Yasha per say, but you get the idea.
I am always writing poetry. I am in a workshop for it and it consumes a lot of my time....you might often see me scribble something in a notebook like the uber-artiste that I am...
I am in my third year of college, I spent the first two at a small private university in the middle of nowhere, and I now attend Stony Brook University.
Sometimes I have ideas.
I’m really good at
I'm good at not making up my mind about things. Drives some people crazy, but I like to think I just take more time to consider everything (read: I am indecisive).
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
prose: I think my favorite book of all time might be Drop City by T.C. Boyle....but its a close race. My favorite authors include Kurt Vonnegut, Augusten Burroughs, David Sedaris, Chuck Palahniuk, Albert Camus, Edward Abbey, Jonathan Safran Foer, Lao Tzu, Kerouac.
poetry: Allen Ginsberg, Ezra Pound, Yusef Komunyakaa, Wallace Stevens, Henri Cole, Hart Crane, and numerous others.
Movies: I like Coppola's films Koyaanisqatsi and Apocalypse Now. I like Linklater; Waking Life especially. ive been getting into Wes Anderson films but havent seen enough of them. Coen Brothers, PT Anderson, yeah. One movie that I think is extremely underrated is Better Off Dead...
Music: I've been really into old-timey jazz/blues and surf music lately. In particular Robert Johnson and stuff like The Coasters, Link Wray, etc. Apart from my latest interests I like The Doors, The Beatles, Janis, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Aesop Rock, India Arie, Against Me!, Neil Young, Nick Cave, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Lauryn Hill, The Shins, Alanis, Bedouin Soundclash, the Mars Volta, At the Drive In, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Noise On Vinyl, The Waifs, The Zombies, The Postal Service....yeah
Food: I dont think I really have a favorite food...I like exploration. I really want to do a tour of NYC restaurants now that I have moved close enough...maybe when I get money someday...
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
To be honest I have a kind of frenetic brain and it wanders off in all different directions so there's always something on my mind but its rarely the same thing I was thinking about two minutes ago...
On a typical Friday night I am
I prefer shindigs to parties. I like just hanging out with a handful of good people and talking nonsense. I like crazy spontaneous trips and activities.
I like wine.
I like excuses to take the train into the city.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
She walks by the railing of a path in Kensington Gardens,
And she is dying piece-meal
of a sort of emotional anaemia.
And round about there is a rabble
Of the filthy, sturdy, unkillable infants of the very poor.
They shall inherit the earth.
In her is the end of breeding.
Her boredom is exquisite and excessive.
She would like someone to speak to her,
And is almost afraid that I
will commit that indiscretion.
-Ezra Pound
You should message me if
If you live near me and want to show me some good places to hike.
If you want to just wander around and do nothing together, I'm cool with that too. As long as you are interesting.
