My self-summary
Hello. I am a funny, cute hot librarian type. So right off the bat I need to say that if you don't know the difference between 'you're' and 'your', I'm not the gal for you. I'm also very nosy. I like knitting, cocktails and saucy folks. I am a hard working theater artist looking for a charming, ambitious, creative man to hang out with. I enjoy the company of opinionated, funny, thoughtful people with their own thing going on. I have a lot of interests from graffiti to opera and love when worlds collide. I have a unique sense of style and love thrift shopping and dressing up other people, so beware! I am also a sucker for a guy with cute glasses.

I moved from San Francisco (which I loved) for a tenure track faculty position at a small university in Florida (which I hated), and moved from South Florida to Manhattan for a new faculty position at one of the best schools in the country (for my specialty). I'm beginning my fifth year in the position and I absolutely love it, though the work load can make it difficult to carve out time to make new friends and get out into the city. I would love to meet people and build a network of friends. I'd be particularly interested to hear about poetry slams and readings in the area, writers' groups, or other creative outlets. Extra points if you share my passion for lovely cocktails in classic hotel bars.

I am quirky, clever, and cute
What I’m doing with my life
I teach voice and speech at a university as well as having a freelance coaching business (regional, off Broadway, Broadway). I also have a 'zine called "Fully Crushed Out", which is about crushes on people, places and things--it's a traditional paper zine, not an online one. I love doing it, but it comes out super rarely. Hopefully the next issue will be finished by the end of winter. I also write fairly obsessively in a journal and find knitting really relaxing and fun (I made the hat I'm wearing in one of my pics.). At this point more life balance really interests me. I've put a lot of energy into my career and it's really paying off. Now I'm looking to tend to my personal life and have some fun!

The first things people usually notice about me
Glossy lips, warm smile, long (ish) dreadlocks.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books/Authors: Edith Wharton, Willa Cather, Emerson, Thoreau, Kim Addonizio, David Rivard, Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Lowell, Derek Walcott, Octavia Butler, Shakespeare, Pinter, Mary Oliver, Theresa Rebek, Conor McPherson, Julie Dash, Toni Morrison, Horton Foote, Frank O'Hara.

Movies: The Red Shoes, An Education, Amandla!, La Strada and Absolute Beginners are my current top 5.

Food: I love to go to afternoon tea with the little sandwiches, champagne and scones.
The six things I could never do without
fast pen
Swiss Army knife
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How language works and how words are created. Dorky, I know.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with my friends at our local, talking through the week and making each other laugh our asses off. Perhaps seeing a play or movie. I tend to keep things pretty loose on the weekend--farmers' market, library, getting the gossip on the neighborhood down at the local.

Exploring new neighborhoods is such a great thing to do on the weekend here in NYC.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I talk to myself all the time. Out loud. And sometimes, I say unchaste things.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 36–50
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You just want to say hi. You are creative but a grown up, have your own thing going on, , are a bit of a thicker guy (not necessary, but a plus as I'm a bit of a thicker girl-and cute as a button), and a bit of a smart ass. Also? You are age appropriate.
