My self-summary
Intelligent, thoughtful, sexy, strong and vulnerable, affectionate, a little goofy. I'm a decently educated, relatively well-traveled, cultured city girl. I grew up in South Florida, so I love the sun, sand, ocean breeze, convertibles, and warm, clear water. I love the sounds of Spanish (esp. Cuban Spanish) and Italian, but foreign languages in general are music to my ears. If I were independently wealthy, I would travel constantly and just listen to people talk.

I consider myself a member of the religious left. I just don't see how the religious right gets most of what they believe out of the Bible. Also, I'm convinced Joel Osteen is the anti-Christ. I also don't really buy the anti-Christ as an actual person; it's really more of an archetype.

I have ridden an elephant and a camel, I swam with dolphins and played with a tiger. One of those things is not true. :)
What I’m doing with my life
I study a lot. My job requires a lot of reading and writing. My future goals include a second master's degree, maybe a PhD, and running for Congress.
I’m really good at
Trivia; preaching; comforting children
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a big fan of Diana Gabaldon and Sharon Kay Penman. I love good, well-researched historical fiction. Graham Greene and Dostoyevsky do it for me, too. Anything by Isabel Allende. Vonnegut. Wilbur Smith tells a great story.

I love action and adventure films. Cold War-themed films, especially those made after the fall. Silk Stockings, Only You, Bourne Identity, Sherlock Holmes, Pirates of the Caribbean, the King's Speech, Amelie, and so many more. The cinematography of Eternal Sunshine is stunning. I love a good story. I usually skip most romantic comedies on the basis of silliness. I can count on one hand the number of them that I've considered worth my time. I do not watch horror or slasher films, or movies guaranteed to make me cry (possibly excepting true stories). There are enough tears in the world without contriving them.

I watch Doctor Who, White Collar, Modern Family and NCIS

I listen to most music; I'm kind of unpredictable on this topic. Mostly I channel surf or let pandora do its thing.

I prefer to patronize locally-owned restaurants. I love Mediterranean and Chinese food. I sometimes crave fried chicken, mild fish, and chocolate (usually not all at once). I don't eat a lot of junk. Oh! And Honey bunches of oats (I looove this cereal!)

I love dry wines. I grew up in a family who drinks wine with dinner, so I have at least half a glass almost every day. I choose the varietal by the meal, the atmosphere, the weather, and the company. Usually, though, I drink chardonnay or sauvignon blanc. I also enjoy a good mint julep (awfully hard to come by in L'burg) or a nice buttery single-malt scotch, neat.
The six things I could never do without
There isn't really anything permanently on this list, but things I'd rather not do without:

a good book (or THE good book)
my passport
a gassed-up car and open road
a good DSLR camera with tablet or laptop
sunshine
quiet time (this is permanently on the list)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
church-y things (Bible, theology, etc)
the people I love
my next adventure
cute shoes
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually at home, watching TV with my dog. I'd like to be out with someone special, though, doing something fun.
