I am multifaceted, grounded, and geeky.
My Self-Summary
It's always difficult to encapsulate one's life in a short
description. Young professional, homebrewer, musician, avid reader,
and something of a geek. Always exploring new ideas and aspects of
life, while taking time out to appreciate the less frenetic side of
things.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm back to working in the litigation support field (think of it as
the bastard child of paralegal and IT), but I'm also attending
classes at the Siebel Institute to become a professional brewer. Do
what you love, right? Meanwhile, I'm still writing music and
homebrewing. I'm constantly reading literature and listening to
music, with some old-school video gaming thrown in for good
measure. I'm usually seen around the neighborhood with my dog, or
on my bicycle. I do, of course, make time for my friends as well,
and like to decompress with a nice walk along the beach. And I'm
working on getting in better shape by weight-lifting and riding my
bike everywhere around the city.
Essentially, I'm experiencing and enjoying the different aspects of
life while trying to abide by the adage, "Leave the world a better
place than when you came into it."
I’m really good at
Good conversation, from intellectual analysis to just BSing over a
beer; tinkering with computers, finding the most bizarre
connections between things, making people laugh, listening,
appreciating good food and beer, playing with dogs, snuggling,
singing in the car, pretending I'm not surprised I made that pool
shot, Scrabble.
The first things people usually notice about me
My big ol' bald head, and my tendency to talk passionately about
the things that most interest me.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Gonna be a long list.
Books: Favorite authors are Philip K. Dick, Haruki Murakami, Kurt
Vonnegut, Mark Twain, Hermann Hesse, Yukio Mishima, Milan Kundera,

Food: Likewise, I haven't found a style or cuisine I don't
appreciate yet. I do, however, have a particular passion for sushi,
Ethiopian, Indian, Thai, Italian, German, Mexican, and craft beer.
I also have a thing for really good hamburgers, diner food, and an
impeccably done Maxwell Street Polish. If you're not also an
adventurous eater, we might not get along as well as we would
otherwise.
Movies/TV: The Big Lebowski, Snatch, Paprika, O Brother Where Art
Thou?, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Hot Fuzz, Falling Down,
Attack the Gas Station!, The Goonies, Batman Begins, A Scanner
Darkly, The Truman Show; Haibane Renmei, Mr. Show, Kids in the

Beer: I enjoy every style I've tried, so I'll list a few specific
favorites: Victory Storm King Stout, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA,
Delirium Tremens, St. Bernardus 12, Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold,
Southern Tier Pumking, Schlenkerla Rauchbier, Three Floyds Alpha
King. Yes, I'm a giant beer nerd.
The six things I could never do without
-Music.
-Craft beer.
-Literature.
-People (for good or for bad).
-Good food.
-A space of my own when I need to get away from the rest of the
world.
What's always in my backpack: My moleskine book, my MP3 player, my
netbook, the latest book or two I'm reading, my water bottle, and
some antacids.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A really wide range of stuff. On one hand, I've put a lot of
thought into the mental and social construction of human thought,
mankind's potential versus his actions, and the sheer staggering
scale of the universe around us; On the other hand, I've written an
essay about vagina dentata symbolism in the video game Super
Mario World just for laughs.
On a typical Friday night I am
It varies a lot. I spend about as many Friday nights going out
having a few beers with friends as I do puttering around my
apartment on my own, working on the latest homebrew or tinkering
with old demoscene music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm fairly kinky and travel a loose orbit around the Chicago BDSM
community.
