My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Professional brewer by trade, Epicurian by nature. I'm also a hobbyist musician, an avid reader and a science nerd. I think of myself as considerate towards others, and relentlessly curious about the world.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've spent the last four years pursuing a career in the craft brewing industry, which has taken me through Germany, Denmark, and back to Chicago. Right now I'm helping to start up one of the largest craft brewing facilities in the country. Brewing is a perfect mix of art, history and science, all of which fascinate me. I write music when I have the opportunity, and read whenever I can.

I'm enjoying the different aspects of life while trying to abide by the adage, "Leave the world a better place than when you came into it."
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Good conversation, from intellectual debate to just BSing over a beer; tinkering with computers, making people laugh, playing with dogs, singing in the car, pretending I'm not surprised I made that pool shot, Scrabble.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My big ol' bald head, and my tendency to talk passionately about the things that most interest me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Favorite authors include Philip K. Dick, Haruki Murakami, Kurt Vonnegut, Mark Twain, Hermann Hesse, China Miéville, Stanislaw Lem, Vladimir Nabokov, John Scalzi and Thomas Pynchon. Literature is one of my first and most avid loves. I also like to do a fair amount of reading on the hard sciences, and I'm starting to get into more historical material as well.

Music: I haven't found a genre I don't like yet, and I'm a hobbyist musician myself. A few of my favorites are Soundgarden, Fila Brazillia, Radiohead, Secret Chiefs 3, Otis Redding, Tom Waits, Skinny Puppy, MF Doom, Kraftwerk, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder and The Arcade Fire.

Food: Likewise, I haven't found a style or cuisine I don't appreciate yet. I do, however, have a particular passion for sushi, Ethiopian, Indian, Thai, Italian, German and Mexican food. Going without authentic Mexican food while in Scandinavia has given me a particular craving for it. I also have a thing for really good hamburgers, diner food, and an impeccably done Maxwell Street Polish. Adventurous eaters are my favorite travel companions. I'm also a beer enthusiast, which has led me into my current career in brewing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
A really wide range of stuff. On one hand, I've put a lot of thought into the mental and social construction of human thought, mankind's potential versus his actions, and the sheer staggering scale of the universe around us; On the other hand, I once wrote an essay about vagina dentata symbolism in the video game Super Mario World just for laughs. And part of me is always scheming about the brewpub I'd like to start someday.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It varies a lot. I spend about as many Friday nights going out having a few beers with friends as I do hanging around my apartment working on brewing or music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm kinky and travel a loose orbit around the BDSM community.
