My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a lifelong DC area native yet I've feel like I've only seen a fraction of what it has to offer.

Some people might call me 'quiet', but I prefer 'quietly introspective and possibly low on caffeine'. I like the musical and humorous qualities of life.

Everyone says they like to travel and I'm not much of an exception. However, I also like where I am and I like exploring, driving and making plans to go somewhere too.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I graduated with a soft-science degree that I'm not really using but that I loved getting - you're looking at probably the only person that loves writing papers.

Currently, I'm working my way up to a nice job with nice people. I'm a bit of a workaholic but I love my weekends off.

As for hobbies, I probably collect a new one every few months. I like video games, especially RPGs and action/horror games but I don't spend all my time (usually) playing games. I love music and every so often I'll become obsessed with a certain band or album and I'll be like a dog getting its belly rubbed in terms of happiness.

I also like learning to play guitar, learning languages at a glacial pace (Wir haben roten blumen??!) and sleeping. Because who doesn't like sleeping (my condolences, imsomniacs)?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- Listening
- Following GPS directions (it's a skill, I swears!)
- Using actual maps (yea, that's probably a real skill)
- Being non-threatening
- Remembering lots of random things
- Being a bit strange and weird at times
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't tower over anyone, that's for sure.

People also do this weird guessing game when it comes to my race/ethnicity. I guess I don't look like anything in particular. Except that I'm human, I hope.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite books -
I like books that make me think or have deeply investing story lines or characters. I especially love dystopian anything. And the classics too - they're classics for a reason (and not just to torture you in grade school)!
Some novels/books I've liked include:
Jane Eyre, 1984, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, the Sandman series, American Gods, Gone with the Wind, Wuthering Heights, Hamlet, and books that are not Catcher in the Rye.

Movies -
Horror movies, action movies, science fiction movies, a lot of classics and a ton of things that I need to catch up on with Netflix. Basically I like a lot of movies except for most romantic comedies. Some examples: Children of Men, Airplane!, The Fall, Evil Dead, Edward Scissorhands, Zombieland, Lion King, Star Trek, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Shows -
Netflix helps me out a lot here. I won't give a list of all the shows I watch but here's a few of my prominent favorites: Doctor Who (new and old), Dexter, Star Trek, Twin Peaks, X-Files, Walking Dead, Firefly and Battlestar Galactica.

Music - My username gives a little bit of a hint about what I like but for the full list, here's my Last.fm thing. I like semi-obscure industrial, synthpop, ebm and alternative. Some of my favorites: And One, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Covenant, VNV Nation, Infected Mushroom, VAST and Muse.

Food - I like a lot of things but I'll admit that I'm not as adventurous as I'd like to be about trying new foods. Generally I like American, hispanic and asian foods. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to spicy food ...but I'm a pro at eating sweet things! >_>
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1 - Music - Life is drearier without it.
2 - Maps - To boldly go where most map makers and Garmin have gone before (to get to my destination).
3 - Netflix - I'm a fiend for well-made shows and movies.
4 - Family - Cliché but they've been there and they're really great for laughs and support
5 - Ipod - For access to aforementioned music and sweet, sweet internet access.
6 - Sleep - "Methought I heard a voice cry ‘Sleep no more!
Macbeth does murder sleep,’ the innocent sleep,
Sleep that knits up the ravell’d sleave of care,
The death of each day’s life, sore labour’s bath,
Balm of hurt minds, great nature’s second course,
Chief nourisher in life’s feast."
Macbeth (2.2.46-51)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why does everyone on this site dislike horror movies? What's so bad about silly, mindless violence and ridiculous special effects - it's awesome! Am I alone in this?

Why are cats so darned cute? Are there creatures of similar cute factor on other planets with life? If so, we need a space probe with a HD camera stat - for the good of humanity and galactic cuteness.

What it would take to get Americans serious about improving education especially in math and science.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm usually recovering from a long workweek by relaxing with movies with good company.

I like going to the library or catching concert stops by my favorite bands. I also like visiting interesting places in the DC/MD/VA area and taking pictures.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My dad took me to the movies for the first time to watch 'Spice World', (at my insistence -- I was 11, okay? They had catchy songs.)

My dad has never watched another movie in theaters with me since. Fortunately my taste in movies has greatly improved...I think.
