My self-summary
Recently moved to the Huntsville area from the Rocky Mountains - Colorado and Wyoming.

Creative. Funny. Spontaneous. Counselor. Educator. Actor. Director. Good with kids. Romantic to a Fault (to a fault). Cooks (yes, you can take that more than one way). Makes a mean martini. Pours a nice glass of wine. Opens a beer rather nonchalantly. Artistic: I invented a personalized intuitive collage called Goog'lage. I create mandalas. The boy can dance. I send out Groundhog Day cards instead of Christmas cards: one) because I was always late with the Christmas cards and two) because I really like Groundhog Day.

I'm active... I like getting out and doing creative things - museums, aquariums, amusement parks, theater, live concerts - etc etc or something I've never tried before. I like to exercise - I especially like racquet sports, but also many other sports - they're just not my end all-be all of life activities so I don't post them in my picture profile.

That's all. But I was just summarizing.
What I’m doing with my life
Making it better with each day.
I've been a hospice spirituality director, bereavement and volunteer coordinator.
Counseled troubled teen boys and worked in a public library in the Children's Department.

Socially, I'm in a great place and enjoying friends and family. I haven't had time to create much art lately and I'm itching to do so...
I’m really good at
Creating laughter. Just like tipping that can over and making it go "Moooooo!" I love improv and physical comedy. It's fun out with friends and I've had rave reviews for my comedy on stage.

Winning prizes at costume parties.

Being a dad (I have references. My kids.)

Being present with another person.

Gift giving - when I know someone very well, I can intuit a gift, not from what someone requests, but rather from who that person is. The surprise factor is thrilling.

Creating delicious meals.
Making hors 'd' oeuvres (and spelling it).

Sucking a pimento out of an olive (a skill that comes in handy for other reasons I won't expound on right now...).
The first things people usually notice about me
My stream of consciousness sense of humor. My big brown eyes (some say they look like sunflowers)... Oh, and for some reason women like to run their fingers through my hair... Don't know why, but I let them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: "A Prayer for Owen Meany" and most John Irving books, "Immortality" and most Milan Kundera books, "Poisonwood Bible" Barbara Kingsolver, poetry by Rainer Rilke and Mary Oliver... I also enjoy writing stories, poetry, and plays. I have two children's books in the publication process (Edgar Allan Poe as a kid).

Update: if you want to read some well written dark fiction with incredibly vivid prose Ottessa Moshfegh is the way to go - she wrote "McGlue"

Recently read, "McGlue", "Rules of Civility" and "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" - recommending these to anyone who will listen.

Movies & TV: Moonrise Kingdom and most Wes Anderson, Dr. Horrible's Sing a Long Blog and most Joss Whedon, The Fisher King and most movies with Jeff Bridges, Arrested Development (awww c'mon!), House of Cards with Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, Sherlock (BBC), Night on Earth, Sherlock Holmes w Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, Amelie, Princess Bride, Elf, Fletch, Ferris Bueller, Groundhog's Day, The Three Colors Trilogy (Blue, White, Red) by Kieślowski - Red being my favorite.

Music: Pretty eclectic - I like what I like - (I was a dj in college so I was fond of music in the late 80's and 90's) Barenaked Ladies, Dave Matthews Band, REM, The Cars, Neil Diamond (yes, there's the private thing I'm willing to admit), Joe Jackson, swing music, Jack Johnson, Sarah MacLachlan, Aimee Mann, Paul Simon (incredible in concert), the Smiths, They Might Be Giants, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Classic Jazz, US3, Blues, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, Diana Krall.

The above is only a slight sampling...
The six things I could never do without
1) my son & daughter
2) passion/compassion
3) intuition
4) sense of humor
5) people I can trust on one hand
(The people aren't ON my hand, but the friends I keep closest to me I can usually count on one hand, maybe two - then I run out of fingers and it takes too much time to take off my shoes)
6) art/expression
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lately it is currency. We need it to pay the rent, pay the bills, buy the food - bla, bla, bla. But recently I have found in matters of true riches, who I am, and what I need to survive - the relationships I hold dear and who hold me dear are more valuable than anything I have in the bank.
You should message me if
You like creativity and imagination in your life... Which leads to passion and excitement... And if it's working for us it might lead to dedication...
