I am intelligent, dry-witted, and active.
My Self-Summary
Hi, I'm a recovering introvert who's working in college
administration. I'm currently living in Dallas.
I'm big into
swing dancing - I've been doing it
for three years regularly. I tend to have some sort of interesting
project going on to occupy my time - I'm sort of a watered down mad
scientist. Some of these have included an unsuccessful attempt to
make a solar oven, playing with paper mache, learning to make soap,
video and photo editing. Currently in my secret lab I'm attempting
to create edible meals. With mixed results.
I love to laugh. I seek out reasons to laugh and things to make
other people laugh. I like to share webcomics and funny videos on
youtube. I enjoy International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Life's too
short not to spend it laughing.
I like to write. It feels awesome when I can put something down
that will get a chuckle out of someone else. I'm told I've been
successful at this.
I'm up for any number of things -
movies,
dining out, art shows, museums,
carnival, parties, taking a class in something, hanging out with
friends, or just spending an evening at home.

What I’m doing with my life
Career-wise, I'm settling into a new job. I enjoy it and it allows
me to indulge my joy of learning new things, especially about
technology, and
gives me more exposure to the people at the campus than my last job
did, which I was surprised to find, was one of the things that I
really like about it.
Other than that, I am spending as much time as I can with my
friends, working out as often as I can, engaging in my various
hobbies, doing house maintenance stuff, and otherwise trying to
have fun.

I’m really good at
I dance - a lot. Mostly
swing dancing, but a few
others.
I am quite good at working with
computers and getting them to behave.
I can also usually fix problems on them and explain to people what
they need to know to get them to obey (the computers, not the
people).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love the Hitchhiker books, RIP Douglas Adams. Also I liked Good
Omens, Freakonomics, and Emotional Intelligence.
Movies: Too many to count. Most recent was Zombieland (hilarious!),
favorites include anything by Monty Python, Goodfellas, Godfather
Pts I & II, the MST3K movie, Plan 9 From Outer Space (for very
different reasons), The Princess Bride, and Willy Wonka and the
Chocolate Factory. I tend to enjoy comedy movies more than
others.
Music: Eclectic. My favorite artist is Weird Al Yankovic. Genres I
enjoy are classic rock, alternative, modern rock, 20s-50s big band
music, and blues (both old and new).
Food: Mostly the kinds that are bad for me. Italian and Chinese are
well enjoyed.
The six things I could never do without
Modern conveniences like a water heater and AC/Heating.
Something to
read.
It's what I usually do when I should be working. Books, webpages,
whatever.
My family.
Dogs. It's awesome to come home to someone who is so overjoyed to
see you, they can barely contain themselves.
Dance.
Pie.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
... the future. The current political battles being fought in
Washington, especially the ones regarding health care. Pie.
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends on which Friday of the month it is. Going out, spending
time with friends, etc.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have more pictures of my sister's dog on my Facebook profile than
she does on hers.
