My self-summary
I'm a native Texan who loves country music, reading, going to rodeos, movies, laughing, steak, rain, dogs, and my family. Actually, that is terribly reductionistic - I love a lot of other stuff too, like naps and traveling and teaching and pickles. But it's a start.

I am a Christian, and my faith is very important to me. Theologically I identify as a Reformed Presbyterian, but recently have become a wee bit Reformed Baptist.

I am not interested in dating just for fun, or sex before marriage, so if you're looking for a hook-up buddy or a girlfriend to sleep with, you aren't looking for me.
What I’m doing with my life
I own my own college admissions consulting and writing coaching business, and I do some nonprofit consulting work on the side. I put serious effort toward being a cool aunt. I'm an active member of a local church, which I love dearly. I also just finished running a local political campaign, but I have no category for that in my everyday life.
I’m really good at
memorizing song lyrics; writing; reading gagillions of books; sleeping; making travel plans; listening; talking; losing gracefully (I'm most practiced at losing at Settlers of Catan, which I love to play anyway); doing dishes; cooking; learning new things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall - a little over 5'10" - and very blonde. I usually have fairly long hair (but I do tend to chop it off and donate it every few years), so the blonde tends to stick in people's minds.

I have a rather notable laugh. The fact that this is something people notice about me right off will tell you how often I usually laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music (artists/bands): Andrew Peterson, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, The Band Perry, Keith & Kristyn Getty, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Indelible Grace folks, Caedmon's Call, hymns

Fav Shows of All Time: Alias, LOST, Downton Abbey, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, Boy Meets World, The Mentalist, Doctor Who (My head's favorite Doctor is 10; my heart's favorite Doctor is 11. They usually don't disagree, so this is weird.)

Movies: The Return of the King (LotR), the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies (esp. The Black Pearl and At World's End), Master and Commander, The Blindside, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, An Ideal Husband, Pride & Prejudice (the 5-hour BBC version), Finding Forrester, Elizabethtown, I Could Never Be Your Woman, Madea's Family Reunion, The Avengers, Meet the Robinsons (possibly my favorite movie ever), Despicable Me, Emma (both the Gwyneth Paltrow version and the 4-hour BBC version)

Non-Fiction: The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert (Rosaria Butterfield), The Word Became Fresh (Dale Ralph Davis), God's Passion for His Glory (John Piper), The Pleasures of God (John Piper), Holiness by Grace (Bryan Chappell), The Good Girl Revolution (Wendy Shalit), Jesus + Nothing = Everything (Tullian Tchiavidjian), Real Sex (Lauren Winner)

Fiction: I especially love mysteries, but some of my favorite books are... Pride and Prejudice, The Pendragon Cycle (Stephen Lawhead), The Time Traveler's Wife, CS Lewis's Space Trilogy, Till We Have Faces, Mama Day, Les Miserables (Julie Rose translation), the Lord Peter Wimsey series, I Capture the Castle, The Thirteenth Tale, anything by Agatha Christie, Anne Perry, J Mark Bertrand, Maria de los Santos, and Tana French, and almost anything by Deanna Raybourn
The six things I could never do without
I'm going to be a literalist and limit my six to "things."
1. my Bible
2. my iPhone
3. my tempurpedic pillow
4. books to read
5. a pen
6. some paper
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- the plots of various stories (from Doctor Who to the whole of human history)
- people I love
- God and theology (often these thoughts feature hymns)
- my adorable nephew (who gets his own bullet point)
- politics
- adoption (totally obsessed)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
on the internet? um, how about that I am creeped out by death metal?
