My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Aspiring mad scientist. Master of Writing. Stationary traveler. Patently overdramatic.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Making a truly staggering number of mistakes, and learning from them. Practicing total sincerity. Paying off student loans.

I'm currently studying for the national EMT certification at Malcolm X College, and also teaching freshmen how to write at SAIC. I pay my rent with a book advance some people were dumb enough to give me, for a book where I basically just retell myths like it's 3AM and I'm drunk on chat. Still not entirely sure how that happened.

Before this, I traveled. At home and abroad, on foot and in cars powered by vegetable oil. I'd like to distill what I've learned from my travels down to a couple of wise precepts, but mainly I learned stories. Not to say there aren't wise precepts buried in the stories, but those experiences were too big to summarize.

I fiddle with electronics sometimes. I'm working on a pair of gloves that will allow me to type by touching fingers to palms. If you're good with code, I will interrogate you ceaselessly.

I live in a crazy huge craft castle in Garfield Park, home to three roommates, six chickens, and ten sewing machines.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My bare feet. I walk everywhere barefoot, because I like walking everywhere barefoot. I'm not trying to make a statement or anything, I just don't like shoes. Except when it's winter. In which case, probably my loud clothes or my yelling.

Food:
I have made a concerted effort not to dislike anything. When I find a food I don't like, I find someone who likes it and get them to explain how it tastes to them, and I learn how to taste that. A good example would be chocolate, which I don't naturally like. I suppose if I had to pick favorites I'd go with my stepmother's Puerto Rican rice and beans, my brother in law's pecan coated catfish and gumbo, and my chili. I like all of these better when I make them myself. Actually, I like everything better when I make it myself. It's the satisfaction of having accomplished something.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
* Tiny steno pads. Their uses are endless.
* Readables - specifically yellowed sci-fi novels for a dollar
* My feet - if there's nothing to read and nothing to do then I start walking around
* A bike. I like to arrange my life so that exercise is incidental to whatever else I'm doing. Plus biking is cheap, and it puts me in a good mood.
* Blue tape
* Pockets - for putting all of the above things in. Other than my feet, and a bike. Although I do sometimes pocket some shoes for when I need to get into restaurants.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Writing, paths by which to scale buildings, dreams, the intricacies of unconscious motivation, cognitive linguistics, code logic, hypothetical situations in which I have to fly to a remote location to enact a daring rescue, things that I was supposed to do which I have just now remembered.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday is the only day I have 100% off, so it varies wildly from week to week. I might be sewing some wearable electronics in my room, or I might be outside, dancing wildly beneath a full moon.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If I spent as much time editing my stories as I spend editing this profile, I'd be more famous than God.

you share my passion for trespassing. You like to build things. You want to go skydiving. You are the type of person who will leave the house at three o'clock in the morning to perform covert operations. You do these sorts of things when no one is watching. Sometimes you do nothing at all. You can talk to me about books that have never been on the bestseller list. You had a dream you think I should know about. You think it's bullshit that guys are always expected to make the first move.
