I am patient, acerbic, and artsy.
My Self-Summary
My name is Tad.
I could probably be described as quirky; the words "nerd" or "geek"
often have negative connotations, and don't summarize me
well.
My sociopolitical beliefs mostly fall into liberal stereotypes, but
they won't matter much once the evil robots take over the world.
ROBOTS.
What I’m doing with my life
For right now, I'm making money in a cubicle job, living with my
roommate in an apartmenty place, and building a time machine. Other
than that, I just try to enjoy my life and avoid unnecessary drama.
I’m really good at
being funny. At least, people tell me that I'm funny. You'd expect
me to write something hilarious here to prove that, but that would
feel contrived & forced.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm usually quiet/shy around people I don't know well. I don't put
up any sort of "ultra friendly life of the party" façade for
everyone; I just try to be straightforward & honest, and the
"friendly" part follows naturally.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books:
General
linguistics/philosophy, stuff by
Douglas
Adams,
Chuck Palahniuk; I haven't read
the Harry Potter books.
Movies:
Although I enjoy summer blockbuster stuff, my favorite genre is
pretentious indie/smarthouse cinema such as Darren Aronofsky, Wes
Anderson, PT Anderson, Christopher Nolan.
Music:
I can tolerate most music. My iPod is filled with an eclectic mix
of modern rock music (
Third Eye Blind,
Nine Inch Nails,
TMBG) and
IDM/electronic/minimalistic ear-bleedery (
Autechre,
Aphex Twin,
Alva Noto,
Philip Glass).
Food:
Anything with peanuts is good. I've been trying to cut down on
unhealthy food, but sometimes I'll still eat pizza, wings, and
other shit that has fluorescent orange grease. I don't like
seafood/crustaceans.
The six things I could never do without
1. a creative outlet - drawing, spontaneous off-key singing
2. a fresh media supply - books, music, movies, the interwebs
3. smarts - the opportunity to show off my intellect &
excellent spelling
4. sillys - not everything has to be so serios [sic]
5. freedom from oppression
6. robots
I spend a lot of time thinking about
80's
cartoons from my childhood. I watched too much tv as a kid, so
those songs are stuck in my head forever.
On a typical Friday night I am
at work, since I currently work night shift. On a Saturday or
Sunday night, my idea of fun is probably doing something laid back
like playing
board
games or
video
games with friends, or watching a movie.
I never got into the whole club or bar scene. I prefer a quieter,
non-smoking, and more intimate setting where I can actually hear
what someone is saying. I don't go out drinking for drinking's sake
(nor for drinking 酒); when I do imbibe, I prefer
Mike's Hard
Lemonade,
Smirnoff Ice, etc. over beer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
My Bacon Number is 3. Mmmmm, numbers.
You should message me if
my profile piqued your curiousity and you're interested in getting
to know me, as friends or more. Witty & open-minded people are
good.
