I am meandering, spacy, and sarcastic.
My Self-Summary
Hello everyone. I'm a pretty easy going fellow. I'm interested in
computers, motorcycles, movies, and other random boring stuff like
that. I live in a small town in Idaho, but came from one of the
largest cities in California. Mostly I'm just looking for people to
talk to, and possibly hang out with. If more comes from it however,
I'd never be one to complain. My current passions are motorcycling
and too a lesser extent snowmobiling. I long for a curvy, well
developed expanse of... road
I will admit that I am quite analytical at times, but I really do
have a heart.. I think it's in my closet at the moment?
My work falls somewhere between a masochistic compulsion and a
sadistic pursuit but I enjoy it sometimes. Really.
What I’m doing with my life
At this very moment? I'm typing on ok cupid! I'm currently running
the family business. We work with developmentally disabled
folk.
I should hopefully be starting school again here soon for my social
work degree. Pesky things keep interrupting me on that.
Beyond my school and work plans I wander the western United States
somewhat aimlessly. On my weekends off from work I pick a cardinal
direction and get as far as I can until I need to come back. Now if
only I could figure out how to not need to come back...
I’m really good at
Figuring out broken things. I love analytical thought. I'm also
very good at listening to people's problems, as long as you want
help or a solution to it. I'm a guy, we don't really do that "oh I
wanted you to listen but not do anything about it" it confuses us.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, if you're meeting me at my house, it's the buffalo I live
next to. Owner says it's his big brown dog.
If I'm out in town it would be the fact that I'm wearing a coat on
a 100 degree summer day.
Otherwise probably the fact that I'm attached to my cell phone with
a stressed look on my face. Anyone want my job?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Favorite books: The Dresden Files series, Terry Pratchett stuff,
though really I'll read about anything. I recently finished The
Road by Cormac McCarthy and wow, just when you think it'd hit rock
bottom, it starts to dig!
Favorite movies: Classics, Lawrence of Arabia, Ben Hur, big epic
films like that, also Coen Brothers stuff. I do dearly love me some
Big Lebowski and Burn After Reading. I just watched Fail-Safe and
forgot how amazing of a movie that is. I have a huge man crush on
Henry Fonda and Gregory Peck.
Favorite Music: eh. I'm a bit of a nerd in this respect, I enjoy
the classics, Floyd, Zeppelin, Osbourn, but I have a deep and
abiding respect for the epic metal genre. That's right, I like
Manowar. I'd never admit it in public though!
Favorite Food: hmm. I like good food. It doesn't necessarily have
to be fancy, but I do find myself enjoying going to nice
restaurants. Oh, and English Toffee without nuts. English muffins
also. They're fantastic.
Favorite TV: I heard you can add tv here too, so I will! I'm dearly
fond of Chuck, Heroes (mostly because it's like a giant train
wreck) Top gear (oh James May, what horrible car will you buy this
time?) and finally House. I view House as less a tv show, and more
a documentary on how I would like to live my life.
The six things I could never do without
1. My dog
2. Sarcasm
3. either my KLR650 or my DL1000, depending upon mood.
4. Probably my phone, as much as I hate it, It'd be awfully hard to
do my job without it, plus it's an iphone, that makes me cool
right?
5. My Mom
6. Socks. I love socks. Socks are quite possibly the greatest
invention by mankind so far.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Work. It's pretty all consuming a lot of the time sadly enough. The
joys of being in charge?
When it's not work it's where I'll meander off to my next free
weekend. Last week it was Oregon. The time previous it was Northern
Idaho I've also got the Going to the Sun highway and Lolo Pass in
Montana and the Badlands in South Dakota on my list for this
year.
I've also been pondering what you can't do with a JetBoil? It
started off as mankind's greatest ramen cooking device and has
become a way of life. Who doesn't want a man who can boil water in
30 seconds?
On a typical Friday night I am
Nerding it up if I have to work. If I don't have to work I'm a
minimum of 200 miles away from here.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I would totally go 100% irrevocably gay for Ira Glass. I would have
him follow me around and read the dictionary or the phone book so I
could listen to him. I <3 Ira Glass.
You should message me if
You want to I suppose. I'm a pretty easy going guy. Perhaps if you
want to mourn Kawasaki dropping out of the MotoGP circuit or if
you'd like to a deep meaningful discussion on the merits of cross
plane vs flat plane crankshaft design.
On a more serious note, you should message me if you know something
about photography. I've been interested in learning something
beyond the simple point and shoot I currently have.
