Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well, I'm a full time student right now and enjoying it while it
lasts, but close enough to graduating that job prospects are
starting to look scary. I love Ottawa, and I'm hoping to find a job
here when I'm done school.
Despite my large stature and the fact that I stick out of a crowd
like a sore thumb I'm a little bit shy when first meeting people. I
generally come across as quiet, but I open up once I get to know
someone. Part of this is also the fact that I like to think before
I speak. I'm also pretty honest, if you ask me something I'll
probably give you my honest opinion, like it or not.
Right of the bat, I'll admit that I'm a little bit of a geek. Ok,
well, maybe more than a little bit of one. I enjoy all the
stereotypical past-times like video games, board or card games,
anything related to sci-fi, etc. That's not to say I don't have
other interests mind you, I'm just as likely to go to a party or a
bar, discuss history, politics or the news, listen to music,
whatever suits my fancy. I like to consider myself well-rounded in
terms of my interests.
I also have a love of the outdoors. Before coming to Ottawa I did a
lot of hiking, camping, canoeing, the works. Sadly, since coming
here I haven't had much a chance to continue.
If whatever your favourite past-time is isn't listed here, never
fear, I'm one of those people who feels they should try things
before deciding it isn't for them. So who knows, maybe your
favourite hobby could become mine too one day.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Right now I'm studying Computer Science and Political Science at
the University of Ottawa (an interesting mix, I know). I still have
no idea what I'm going to end up doing with it, I'm looking at
everything from private sector comp sci work to public service. No
matter what happens I'll be applying at the Department of Foreign
Affairs and International Trade, it's a bit of a dream job for me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Many things, most of them completely impractical.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I am pretty tall. Chances are that I'm the tallest person
around at any given time.
Also, apparently I have a nice voice, but it's kind of hard for me
to judge that one.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I read a lot, there are probably a dozen books I could put on this
list as my favourites, but I'll limit it to just a few.
- The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwall
- The Dark Tower series by Stephen King
- The Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons
- Dies the Fire by S.M. Stirling
- A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin
- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
- House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski
I enjoy most movies to be honest, though I'm a sucker for action
flicks, or really anything that makes me think while I'm watching
it. Some of my favourites are
V for Vendetta
The Other Guys
The Usual Suspects
I haven't been able to watch many shows recently seeing as I don't
have cable where I'm living right now. What I'm managing to
scrounge off the internet right now is
- Firefly (probably my all-time favourite)
- A Game of Thrones
- Dr. Who
It varies from month to month, I can listent to pretty much
anything except rap and country. Right now I'm listening to
- Hey Rosetta
- Nico Vega
- The Balconies
- Silversun Pickups
I'm up for pretty much anything, I really enjoy trying new types of
food. If I had to pick a favourite I'd say good old fashioned BBQ
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In addition to the obligatory friends and family I'd say:
- The internet
- Something with which to access the internet
- The news, or some way of knowing whats going on in the
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life, the universe, and everything. Imaginary scenarios, what would
happen if (insert event here) happened right now? The news, whats
going on in the world. Sometimes nothing at all.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
My Friday nights have a lot of variety. I do everything from going
out with friends to a bar or a club, getting together with people
and playing video or board games, to just taking an evening off
from whatever I'm doing and reading a book, watching a movie, or
playing a video game.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm willing to admit almost anything, all you have to do is ask.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you managed to wade all the way through that wall of text and
think I might be worth talking to or grabbing a coffee with, fire
me off a message! If you are in doubt, send me a message anyways,
whats the worst that could happen?
