I am avant-garde, playful, and empathic.

My Self-Summary

If you can pry me from whatever book or writing I am doing, you'll find I'm someone who actually loves to have stimulating conversations, especially about social issues. I enjoy meeting new people and learning the perspectives of those different from me, and I don't mind talking about personal subjects. Politics, spirituality, sexuality, Psychology... Nothing is too touchy for me! I consider myself rather open-minded, and do my best to follow the "try everything once!" motto.

I love the arts and creative works of the world. I am a Creative Writing major and have many ideas for my upcoming portfolio, though I have a knack for prose. Admittedly, I'm an art history geek! I'm extremely interested in other cultures and I can't wait to travel to a whole bunch of places, like London, Tokyo, Barcelona, amongst a lot of other places!

My friends and those I'm attracted to have to be open-minded and can stand for lots of both banter and meaningful conversation. Definitely have to have a funny bone, even better, a dark sense of humor. I do like games of all sorts, from board games to video games, but it is important for me that life doesn't circle around them, but the moments of those close to me creating memories.

As a note, I am transgendered, and it would be important to be aware of this before messaging me. If you'd like to know more, just drop me a line and I wouldn't mind answering questions!

Mattie, despite her good looks, actually has a lot of brains to back herself up. She's easy to talk to, and generally informative.

DanAsher is an awesome guy (took my bribe to edit my profile! heehee) definitely check him out! Looking for a kick ass chick? MissInfidel is my best friend and has my seal of approval!

What I’m doing with my life

I'm in college trying to find my way through the last leg of the educational system of America and make a name for myself. Currently I am trying to build a portfolio that spans across many mediums such as written fiction, screenplays, scripts, video game development, article writing, and just about anything more I can think of. I'm hoping to join in on varying projects until I can find something I truly love, and hopefully can have a story reach out and be experienced by the world. I am also studying Japanese and I hope to visit there one day, as the culture has always fascinated me as well as the language.

I’m really good at

Connecting with people. I have a knack for empathizing easily with others and reading what others are feeling. Friends come to me for advice when emotions or other people are confusing, and I give insight on the dynamics of relationships. I enjoy this aspect of myself, it has really developed my listening skills, and I love knowing about others.

The first things people usually notice about me

My enthusiasm! I'm known for energizing others and lightening the mood of any situation, making people feel comfortable even when we've just met. I'm typically a person most people haven't met or talked to with in depth, and while that might catch someone off guard at first, everyone finds that I'm a very open and approachable person.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Ironic enough for someone who writes fiction, you will find my nose buried in various nonfiction, relating to the subjects I love to talk about, along with the occasional graphic novel. It's fun to learn about new things, I like having knowledge about many different areas.

Foreign films and indie movies tend to be the watches I enjoy the most. Artsy is great when it isn't overdone, I love to be moved enough to cry and laugh, and be able to have a good conversation about it's deep undercurrents. I have a love/have relationship with horror, as I enjoy the concept, but I am extremely jumpy and suspense drives me crazy!

Music is a mood setter for me, and as important music is for me, I'm not too much of a fanatic. I love downtempo and trip hop as genres, like Zero 7, Massive Attack, and Thievery Corporation, along with other artists who mix electronic music with other genres, Bjork, The Faint, and Radiohead, as well as straight up electronic, especially with Moby and Goldfrapp. Alanis Morissette is my guilty pleasure, but truly, I relate to a lot of her music.

Don't get me started on food! I love food! I like trying new things and feeling cultured about the different types of food I've had. I like anything with a lot of flavor and complex tastes, and especially enjoy food and wine/beer pairings. I have a new favorite cuisine every month... I can't help it!

The six things I could never do without

My Imagination: Though it gets me in trouble from time to time, having the time to daydream and think of the future has been both a creative fuel and personal inspiration. I believe that you should primarily believe in yourself, and this helps me gain the introspection I need.

Interaction: I'm guilty for being a social creature, everything I enjoy can be shared and discussed. Though I love my alone time, I almost never pass up good conversation and company.

Mental Stimulation: This comes in many forms, such as interesting classes, politics, the internet, video games, Interior Design magazines, anything to make me think!

Fashion: I am huge on self-expression, everything I do and dress and say have something to do with my personality, and I think that applies to everyone. I like feeling comfortable in my own skin without having to be pegged as a shop-a-holic.

Curiosity: Though I'm not a suspicious person, I like to know the "why?'s" to many things, especially concerning people and esoteric knowledge. I am not involved with any sort of religion or even spiritual following, but a sense of self growth that is open to questioning every method and seeing how I could use them.

Homey Comforts: Old friends, my dog, snack foods, HGTV, the things that can make any sour day turn bright.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How all the puzzle pieces fit together. I think that everyone and everything has a subtle meaning and all of it can teach you something. I don't believe that meaning is assigned to by something or someone, but by us ourselves. I value self growth and try to be open to it whenever I realize it has presented itself.

On a typical Friday night I am

Most likely at a cafe of sorts, drinking wine, beer, or tea while conversing with both new and familiar people. I prefer a more low-key setting, but I can also feel energized off of a little excitement.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Sounds like something to talk about in private!

You should message me if

You've gotten this far and like what you've read! I am looking for particular people when it comes to romance, but I am open to talking with everyone.
