I am delightfully odd, justifiably insecure, and generally unfiltered.

My Self-Summary

I hadn't updated this profile, or even logged into the site, for well over a year until now, so bear with me.

I was in a relationship that meant a lot to me, and ended in late July. Still smarting a bit from it, truth be told, but after a few months of casual sex and other stuff of the like, I'm ready to get back out there. Not going to force anything that isn't there, really just looking to hang out with decent guys and if friendship comes out of it, great. If more, great too.

I love movies to kind of an irrational degree, and try to check out the majority of what gets released, even the garbage. 2009 movies I've loved are: "A Serious Man," "Up," "In the Loop," Inglourious Basterds," "Up in the Air," "Precious," The Fantastic Mr. Fox," "Julia," "Coraline."

To give you an idea of my tastes, my favorite current filmmakers are The Coen Brothers, Alexander Payne, Alfonso Cuaron, David Fincher, Paul Greengrass, Pedro Almodovar, Spike Jonze, Martin Scorsese, David O. Russell, Paul Thomas Anderson and Brad Bird.

I guess "arts" pretty much encompasses the majority of my chief interests; "Arrested Development" is probably the greatest television show in the history of mankind, but I'm also a big fan of "The Comeback" and "Freaks and Geeks." Stuff currently on the air that I watch is "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Office," "30 Rock" and "Modern Family."

In terms of theatre, I try to catch a lot when I'm able to go and/or afford it, and the stuff I've really, really liked this season has been "Next to Normal," "Hair," "God of Carnage," "The Norman Conquests," "Exit the King"."

I'm a fairly political dude, and it's definitely possible to get me riled up if one were so inclined. I'm pretty much a hardcore liberal, though I try to be open-minded, and do my best to be informed about a subject before I have an opinion about it (Bush-bashing liberals who couldn't articulate why exactly they hated Bush gave the rest of us a bad name). While he's not perfect, and I think we should hold his feet to the fire when he deserves it, by and large, I'm a big Obama guy (and for the record, I never supported Hillary).

OTHER MISCELLANEOUS FACTS ABOUT ME:

I think racism is bad (thanks "Crash"!)

I have the little 'organ donor' thing on my driver's license.

I hate people who don't give up their seat on the subway to old women.

I'm not a big fan of religion (but try not to be self-righteous about it). When the Jew holidays roll around, I happily go home and accompany my parents for whatever shenanigans they're partaking in, and smile and go along with it, but they know I don't buy into any of the silly dogma.

I like all sorts of music, but prefer classic rock above all else.

The only sport I like watching is baseball (and even that requires me to have a few beers). It'd just be lying to call me a "fan" of anything related to sports, but I like the Mets.

It's not an every day thing, but I'm a regular pot smoker. Going out (or having people over) for drinks is great too, and my drink of choice is usually whiskey.

My AIM/AOL sn is AHorseFellOnMe.

What I’m doing with my life

Let's see, I'm 24 and hail from Long Island. I currently live by myself in a tiny, tiny, tiny one-bedroom studio, straddling the line between Hell's Kitchen and UWS (I'm in the mid-60s). I work in publicity at a film studio, where I've been working since December. I'm lucky enough to be able to walk to work.

I went to school at Towson University in Baltimore, where I majored in film (theory and criticism, not production) and which I attended for 5 years. During that period, I grew to love Baltimore (sure, the murders and crack addicts are there, but they only add to the delightful ambience), and still go visit my friends there every month or two.

I’m really good at

knowing all sorts of unnecessary film minutae; snuggling; planning road trips; doing a handspring (I quit gymnastics class after one session when I was little, and it's the one thing I learned/retained).

I'M NOT GOOD AT: being fashionable (my clothes are usually picked out by friends), dancing, having a sense of direction (I need HopStop for everything), pretending to tolerate ignorant/obnoxious people

The first things people usually notice about me

the 'hairy Jew' factor; that I'm in a hurry; that I can't stop talking about how awesome George Clooney is

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm one of those liberal pussies who literally cries at political progress; It's such a cliche, but I bawled like a fucking baby on election night, as well as during Obama's speech at the HRC dinner last month. Regardless of whether he follows through on his words or not, it's crazy surreal to hear the President of the United States address a roomful of gays, saying "I'm on your side." ....okay, have all gay Republicans fled my profile by now? Good.

You should message me if

you know who Richard Jenkins is without IMDbing/googling; You find Dustin Lance Black off-puttingly self-righteous; You have the capacity to appreciate both high art AND enjoyable trash.
