My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Confident glances, insightful observations that will often make you laugh, a positive attitude and a big dose of gentleman...these are some of the things you'll get with me.
I'm outgoing and engaging. Quiet, shy, meek...not me. If we're on the same wavelength, we'll have a lot of fun.
My philosophy: Stay positive even when the odds are trying to convince you not to. Be kind and fair to everyone you meet. We're on this ball of mud and water hurling though space together...let's make the best of it.
I'm a futures options trader by day. Does that sound vague and clandestine? It is! And don’t stereotype. In this case, Chicago + Trader does not = jackass!
None of my pics are from eight years, 80 pounds or 80 cruise ship buffets ago. Although wait, one is from about six years ago now that I look at them. Can you guess which one?
Despite having a healthy independent libertarian streak, family and my friends are very important to me. I have a diverse set of friends. I wish my brother and sister were still closer. They've lived in Chicago, but are now scattered around the world. My sister lives with her husband and the world's cutest nephew in Istanbul and my brother is in the birthplace of the Arab Spring, Tunisia.
I've lived abroad too, for around seven or eight years of my life. I've traveled a lot. I've been to at least 30 countries, mostly in Europe.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Looking for a lovely woman and trying to figure out where the stock market and economy are job. I promise to stop talking about it when the eyes in your head roll back.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
...listening...and I'm not just saying that!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyelashes...they make the ladies jealous.

Books--I sometimes like to just grab something off my bookshelves, something old, something I think I may never again read if I don't read it then. So, I grabbed "The Peter Principle." (OK, OK, insert sex joke here, but it's actually an interesting concept.) Movies--I love movies where the good guy stands up for what's right. Two old ones come to mind--High Noon and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Music--really a lot of genres, I like the sound of Neon Trees and Django Django these days. But I'm largely old school--The Who and Zeppelin remain my favorite bands. As for singer-songwriters...Barry White, Elvis, Amy Winehouse, Elton John, Billy Joel, Wille Nelson.
I saw Billy Joel in Russia (the Soviet Union, technically) in 1987. I'm not constantly listening to music, though. I'm the guy on the bus without the headphones.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The Internet
Aged cheese
Live performances
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
why societies and countries fail or succeed. Yeah, things can get nerdy around here. Of course, lighter stuff, like sports, pop culture bounce around in my head too. But I really do like tackling the weightier stuff. Let's grab a glass of wine and delve into our thoughts about organized religions...I'd be up for that. I just don't care that much about who showed how much leg at the last celebrity awards show. But I'm not a snob; I'll listen to you talk about it if you do it in an entertaining way. The only thing I won't discuss: anyone's shameful support of the Packers!!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
cocktailing early or chilling at my place.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm becoming more and more sapiosexual.
