I am nerdy, sweet, and silly.
My Self-Summary
Grad from Trent University in anthropology and sociology, then
Queen's from teacher's college. Now I'm teaching in London.
I love learning, educating, and working with kids. Also
conversations with friends about anything and everything.
I'm a giant geek. I love talking theory, particularly social,
cultural, and identity theory. Working in a museum also means I
love walking through them and talking about stuff in them.
What else... I'm a nerd. Dabble in computer games, anime, sci-fi,
fantasy... Yeah. I'm a nerd.
I'm big on cooking and food. I love cooking and food related TV,
and actually cooking. My good fancy knife is still in Canada, and I
really wish it were here so I can chop stuff properly.
Adventures wandering around the city are also big for me. I like
picking a direction and wandering there off the beaten paths to see
the things along the way. The trip, the experience of getting
there, and all its wrong turns and walking in circles is half the
fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Just moved to London to do supply teaching. Work is slow so I've
been lazing around and occasionally doing touristy stuff while
trying to not look too touristy.
I’m really good at
Arts and crafts, or so I tell myself. Story telling; fairy tales
and that sort of story telling. I like to think I'm a decent cook
too. Or at least I really enjoy it.
Also procrastinating and not sleeping are some forte's of mine.
The first things people usually notice about me
Umm...If you've met me before, that I no longer have a blue
fauxhawk or otherwise funkily coloured hair?
If I'm out dancing, probably that I'm a terrible dancer. (But I do
it anyways cause its fun, who cares if I look ridiculous doing it).
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
a)The Chronicles of Narnia, anything by Terry Brooks, The Lord of
the Rings, 1984, Brave New World, lots of sci-fi and fantasy.
I also really enjoy readings for school that get me thinking. So
things by Foucault, Durkheim, Sydney Mintz, Bourdieu...
b)Big Fish, The Lord of the Rings (all three), The Nightmare Before
Christmas, The Laramie Project, Adaptations of comics, Both
Narnias, most things involving zombies, the occasional romantic
comedy
c)Linkin Park, Finger Eleven, Dar Williams, TV on the Radio, A
Silver Mt. Zion, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, Dashboard
Confessionals, anime soundtracks, The Ark, Billy Talent, Metric, 65
Days of Static, Crystal Castles
Pretty much any music has its time and place with me. I'm not
terribly picky, nor up to date on people's newest stuff.
d)Things involving potatos, onions, or garlic. Also sushi,
spaghetti, shawarma, grapefruit, blueberries, starfruit. Most foods
really.
The six things I could never do without
My laptop, internet, music, things to do, people to talk to, food?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What Im going to have for the next meal of the day.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out and about. Possibly at a pub, possibly dancing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I secretly enjoy boybands.
You should message me if
If you'd like to at all.
