My self-summary
I relocated to this area to enter my doctoral program. I like Plano's abundance of places to walk and shop - sometimes even at the same time. Having a variety of cafes around sure beats the nearest Starbucks being a thirty minute drive. I have to feed my coffee addiction. Also, I have this odd preference for places where you can actually hear your company talking! I love seafood, and I am developing quite an appetite for sushi, but I'm always up for trying new cuisine.

I do admit to more than my fair share of procrastination, but I would say I'm idea-driven. I like to explore ways to improve and optimize, but I'd always rather "work smart" than work hard. When relaxing, I enjoy playing games, watching movies, taking in museums and art exhibits.

Friends and family are important to me, and I believe loyalty is too often an undervalued character trait these days. Plus, I like to indulge my analytical side, and without these people in my world, with whom would I share "Seinfeldian" critiques of everyday occurrences? Still, I am an introvert, so it shouldn't be surprising that I value quality over quantity when it comes to socializing.

These are just some of the ways in which the "INTJ" personality type description, which will "google up" easily, fits me. Though a rationalist in some ways, my faith is important to me, which is mixed with a somewhat Taoist philosophy. Politically, I'm best described as a "Republi-tarian", though I'm always up for discussing the issues of the day with others.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm studying Public Policy & Political Economy. I just finished a temporary position in local government, in which I plan to pursue future endeavors. I'm charting a career path that will mix public service and teaching opportunities.
I’m really good at
● ...procrastinating beyond advisable limits!
● ...over-analyzing, and...
● ...dissecting everyday minutia as if on Seinfeld.
● ...making little dopio espresso machiattos.
● ...remembering, according to some, ... I forget who.
● ...keeping in touch with friends airport-style: only minor delays.
● ...being a decent Scrabble competitor & Bridge partner.
● ...staying within a budget, & mostly organized,
● ...making lists, like all of us on this site!
The first things people usually notice about me
Depends on the setting. Out-and-about, they probably don't. When I'm in my element, I probably appear a mix of serious to a smart ass, though out of it I tend to be more reserved.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books & Magazines: The Road to Serfdom or The Fatal Conceit, both by F. A. Hayek. Generally, I prefer to read non-fiction. I keep tabs on National Review, Reason Magazine, and The Economist.

Movies & Television: The Star Wars & James Bond films (w/Pierce Brosnan or Roger Moore). The last movie I watched, which I liked, was Looper. Some enduring shows include Stargate, The Practice, Hogan's Heroes, Everybody Loves Raymond, Big Bang Theory, Frasier, South Park, Numb3rs, Nash Bridges, & Shark Tank.

(I've positioned my desk so I can watch & multi-task.)

Music: An assortment of Hard rock, including Korn, Stabbing Westward, & Chevelle, Alternative, such as Nirvana, Muse, & Theory of a Dead Man, and Pop, like P!nk, Maroon 5, & Katy Perry. Half the time, my XM Radio is on Octane.

Food: I'm very open to trying new types of cuisine, but my favorite by far is Seafood (including Sushi). I also love chocolate, pastry, and lemon poppy seed muffins.
The six things I could never do without
1) Friends & Family - I owe them a lot.
2) Spiritual Harmony - I need an eternal, unified self.
3) Knowledge - Abstraction is the kindling for my private world.
4) Internet, & since I could stream radio, I'm "back-dooring" that.
5) Opportunities, & the stability they bring.
6) Lastly, like a Garfield sign said, "Give me the coffee,
    and nobody gets hurt!"
On a typical Friday night I am
For me, Friday is just another day. I've never had a graduate class on Friday, so my Thursdays are sometimes more like Fridays.

In fact, I'm actually more likely to go out when I need to study, because indulging in a dessert or cappuccino somewhere is the "carrot" that spurs me to finally get stuff done.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I suppose here is a good place for fair-warning that I am not a "morning person", and that I can be quite incoherent before that first cup. I'm a night owl, and that's enough for the strangers.
I’m looking for
  • Straight girls only
  • Ages 22–37
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends
You should message me if
I'm looking for a gal who is creative, intellectually curious, and who has a sense of balance, especially regarding faith and reason. I know, I'm sometimes demanding. Honesty, trustworthiness, & good communication are musts for -both- of us.

I prefer to approach dating as an opportunity to get to know one another better, with low initial expectations. At the same time, I'm not a believer in first impressions, or sizing someone up in 30 minutes; especially since that doesn't bode well for those of us who are initially awkward & reserved 'til we strike a rapport.

Ultimately, I'd like to find a lasting relationship. I'm only interested in a gal without children ...unless her "kid" is of the furry variety like mine! Should I find someone special, I want to at least get to share some DINKY time. Last but not least, a partnership dynamic that isn't impinged by antiquated gender roles is important to me.

P.S. My digital welcome mat is especially out for INFJs.
