My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hello. My 3 favorite aspects of PlanoLife: great places for walks when Fall returns, lots of venues to shop and window-browse, & plenty of great cafes to feed my coffee addiction. I've developed a sushi habit as well. I'm an introvert, but appreciate folks who can spot the absurdity around us, yet carve out an oasis with their creativity.

I'm trying to appreciate more of what moments have to offer. Still, I like to keep an eye on the future, indulging in over-analyzing ... & chocolate (& digressions). On the road of life, spotting potholes doesn't detract from the journey, it just makes it smoother! As does communication, and I'm big on that. If you aren't you may very well think I'm selfish.  ...I could not possibly comment.

Generally, my INTJ personality type fits me, ...except when it doesn't, such as when my idealism shows me to be impractical. Honestly, my spiritual side is more a source of existential comfort than everyday confidence. Philosophical Taoism also resonates. I'm an idea-driven, "work smart, not hard" type who seeks more originality than he manages, and evinces a mix of Gen X & Y. I'm quite metaphorical, so a female Joe Friday wanting "just the facts" from me may feel like a hamster in a wheel going nowhere ...carrying a badge!

I'm quite interested in politics, and always up for a spirited exchange about issues of the day. I place a premium on freedom - uncertainty scares me but I won't chain the entrepreneurs among us, nor equate political limits with indifference. I value empathy and especially complexity, but something I really miss about the 90s was the weaker focus on "values", which more room for self-definition. On a lighter note, I enjoy taking in art exhibits, visiting history museums, and trying different restaurants. I've tried lots of different types of cuisines since moving here. Another preferred pastime is playing lots of different games: board, cards, video, & even table varieties, though I'm not that good at the last one. I love gadgets, but collect pens. I'm not a sports fan, ...except volleyball with my cat.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Just this month (August), I finished my dissertation, so I'm at a bit of a crossroads, trying to chart a path back to local government and/or teaching.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
● ...procrastinating beyond advisable limits!
● ...over-analyzing, and dissecting everyday minutia.
● ...making little dopio espresso machiattos.
● ...remembering, according to some, ... I forget who.
● ...keeping in touch airport-style: only minor delays.
● ...being a decent Scrabble competitor & Bridge partner.
● ...making lists, like all of us on this site!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
depends a lot on whether I'm in my element or not.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books & Magazines:
The Road to Serfdom or The Fatal Conceit, both by F. A. Hayek. I prefer to read non-fiction, usually either practical/self-improvement or political economy. I keep tabs on National Review, Reason Magazine, and The Economist.

Movies:
The Star Wars & James Bond films with Pierce Brosnan or Roger Moore. More recently, I liked Inception, Looper, and the two Hunger Games movies. I want to see Divergent.

Television:
Enduring favs include Stargate (all 3 series), The Practice, Hogan's Heroes, Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, South Park, Numb3rs, & Nash Bridges. Currently, I watch The Blacklist, Revolution, Mike & Molly, Big Bang Theory, & Shark Tank. Season 3 of House of Cards can't start soon enough!

Music:
Assorted Hard rock like Korn, Disturbed/Device, Rammstein, In This Moment, Chevelle, Stabbing Westard (XM 48, Octane!), Alternative (Theory of a Dead Man, Muse, Nirvana), and pop (Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, P!nk, David Guetta). 90's over 80's (Yes, I said it). Sometimes, I'm in the mood for trance (XM 51/52).

Food:
I love Seafood, including sushi. Rounding out the Top 3 are French & Chinese, though I enjoy other cultural varieties, and I'm always up for trying a new one. Top 3 sweets: chocolate mousse, pastries, & lemon poppy seed muffins.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Friends & Family
2) Knowledge & Abstraction.
3) Connectedness
4) Technology* - I'm not an "off-the-grid" kind of guy.
5) Opportunities (Not a fan? They're optional!)
6) Like a Garfield sign said,
"Give me the coffee, and nobody gets hurt!"

* Snuck a lot in here, didn't I?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I think a lot about my future. Especially as I am a bit in flux, how will I parlay some practical aspirations - not my Pinky & the Brain maniacal delusions - into realizations. Also, the way time is personally experienced, and its effect on systems, interests me. Then there's what video I can stream.

Just for kicks: I think perhaps how we would view "the T.A.R.D.I.S" is probably how cats view a small room closed to them.

This site: Why is there so much expression through cliches? If we spent half as much time searching as we do screening, would we have met by now? Isn't making fun of the type you don't want bad form?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
For me, Friday is just another day. In fact, I'm actually more likely to go out when I need to study, using dessert, cappuccino, or some such "carrot" to spur me to get stuff done.

I enjoy exploring new places, but some favorite spots for me are  ● Shops at Legacy ● Knox-Henderson and ● McKinney Square.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I suppose here is a good place for fair warning: I am not a "morning person", I am a night owl that needs the first cup to percolate some semblance of coherence.

Also, I'm not a boor, but I'm sometimes socially awkward.
I’m looking for
  • Straight girls only
  • Ages 22–39
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
...you agree that honesty & trustworthiness are musts
for both of us, you're up for a new friend, and don't "size up" folks in 5 minutes. I think dating is better with few initial expectations and an openness to building rapport. Don't you?

I'm looking to meet someone sweet, creative, & intellectually curious. Give me romance over pragmatism any day. To be honest, a sense of style wouldn't hurt. Demanding, aren't I? Also, I want to share some DINKy time together...but pets / furrkids are cool!

Just in case it should ever matter, I'd like to share 3 relationship priorities: 1) Striving for balance in life dimensions, such as faith & reason, going out & staying in, space/togetherness; and 2) shared initiative & interest, so that 3) antiquated gender roles don't hinder true partnership.

P.S. My digital welcome mat glows brighter when INFJs and "small-e" ENFJs step on it. Try it out :)
