I am happy, nerdy, and having fun.

My Self-Summary

I'm 27 and I enjoy life. I figure if you only go around once, you should try to appreciate things while you're there. As a result, I tend to be quite positive and friendly. I also like to take the long view, which probably helps contribute to my cheerful demeanor.

As for my hobbies, well, my career is in the video games industry, which probably makes me something of a geek. I'm pretty sure I fit a stereotype or two when it comes to entertainment interests in that regard, though I'd like to think I'm good about not letting them rule my life (no 24-hour gaming benders, heh).

On the off-chance I've managed to hold your attention through this riveting opening, my general goals are to be happy, and have someone to share that happiness with. Let's go adventuring. Let's go to the movies. Let's stay indoors and watch the rain. Let's just do something fun with our free time - I'm willing to try nearly anything as long as there's fun to be had.

So, what do you think? There's a world of good times out there - let's find 'em.

What I’m doing with my life

Working in the video games industry.

I recently got a Master's degree in the field, and now I'm a full-fledged game designer! My job's in Downtown Orlando, and it's fantastic.

I’m really good at

Writing - Narratives, design documents, advertising copy, research papers, fiction, dialogue... you name it.
Cooking - When it's just me, I'm not very adventurous, but give me an excuse, and I'll whip up something tasty and new.
Games - Goes with the job territory, I suppose; I'm usually pretty quick to pick up a new game, and there are quite a few I'm awesome at.
Planning - I guess this one also goes with the career. I don't know why it is, but I love it when a plan comes together.
Making Friends - I like meeting people and doing cool stuff with 'em. It's great.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm tall, happy, and easy-going.

...at least, that's what I'd imagine they notice about me. Maybe people see something else entirely. Like my poofy hair. Or my blue eyes. Hmm. Who knows?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I'm sure you're sick of seeing the same classics here over and over, so I'll go for some more recent ones. The Song of Ice and Fire series may be some of the best fantasy I've ever read. World War Z is great zombie-infested fun. Old Man's War is creative and fast-paced sci-fi. Girl Genius, if you're willing to count it, is ludicrous and zany, but also highly engrossing. Fables is compelling stuff too, but in a different, wonderful way.

Movies: Eesh. So many. Let me try to hit some highlights - the Alien, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, and Lord of the Rings movies (the good ones), the Matrix (the good one), Army of Darkness, Dark City, Kung-Fu Hustle, Ratatouille, Terminator 2, The Incredibles, and The Shawshank Redemption. There are definitely more.

TV: Dexter, Futurama, House, Invader Zim, Rome, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, Top Chef... the list goes on.

Music: Gah, I have no idea. I've got a playlist with everything from 70's disco to German industrial to classical violin concertos. I suppose I've got no favorite... I like whatever sounds good to me and has a good beat, and that's a lot.

Foods: Japanese and Indian food tie for the top.

The six things I could never do without

Besides the standard requirements for life (air, water, food, etc.) that snarky folks like to put here, let's go with:

6. Nice, restful sleep. Zzz...

5. Entertaining movies, music, games, and books.

4. Computers + The Internet!

3. Electricity, because a lot of that stuff doesn't work without it.

2. The little things. Comfy couches, green lights, days off, bicycle rides, nice weather, and so on. The stuff we all love in the moment, but don't usually think about.

1. Good friends and family.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What to do in the event of a zombie apocalypse. I mean, ya gotta be prepared for this kind of thing, right?

...though more recently, I suppose I've had home renovations on my mind. I just bought a place and I'm having a lot done to it. It's eating up a bunch of time, money, and brainspace, but it'll be worth it in the end. Gonna look snazzy!

On a typical Friday night I am

Probably going out to the movies with friends, having dinner with friends, playing various games with friends... basically, doing something with friends. Most of them work in the gaming industry, and we like to hang out on the weekends.

Oh, and I've also recently taken up swing dancing, which happens to meet on Friday nights. It's great fun, but I definitely need more practice. I'll best you yet, Lindy Hop...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

That I'm a vegetarian!

Heh, and I bet you scrolled down to this question hoping for something racy.

You should message me if

You like optimistic, honest types, you think you might share a few interests with me, and you're friendly.

Oh, and you have a passing acquaintance with grammar and spelling. C'mon people, it's not that hard.
