My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a study in contrasts, aren't we all? I'm independent, but happy being inter-dependent. I'm competitive in business, but otherwise pretty mellow. I'm a very physical person, but also interested in the world of ideas; maybe wise, but also prone to childlike openness and enthusiasm; just as happy to be with people as to be by myself; love big cities, but also the mountains and oceans; equally comfortable having a crazy busy schedule or no schedule at all.

I am instatiably curious and open-minded. I love to travel to see how others' live, whether that's in the developing world (China, India, Africa, Vietnam) or the first world (Europe, Australia, South America). Fortunately, I am able to visit a lot of places as part of my work, which gives me the opportunity to see behind and beyond what a tourist would see. One of my favorite things is to wander around a new city on foot, without a plan, and let the whole experience just come to me.

I really like helping others succeed and improve their lives by providing opportunities and support. I have become skeptical of the value of just giving things to others in need or telling them what they ought to do. Give a man a fish... remember that? Well, I'm the guy teaching fishing.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm shifting from doing things myself and leading teams to mentoring others. As this progression evolves, I have more time and energy for my kids, my personal interests (cooking, art, music, scuba, cycling, yoga...) and someone new to share life with.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Asking questions. Getting to the heart of things quickly. Figuring things out, and fixing things (businesses mainly) that have others have had problems with.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm more interested in finding out about them than about drawing attention to myself.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - I'm a non-fiction guy: physics (Warped Passages was great), evolution (The Selfish Gene and subsequent books by Richard Dawkins), economics (Irrational Exuberance, The (Mis)Behavior of Markets), history (Team of Rivals), and how we think (Nudge).

Movies - The Godfather I & II, Casablanca, movies with twists at the end (The Sixth Sense, The Usual Suspects), Juno, and movies with great music (The Blues Brothers, O Brother Where Art Thou)

Shows - Don't watch TV much at all (except for NBA & NCAA playoffs)

Music - Jazz, especially soulful stuff like Keith Jarrett's Koln Concert and Miles Davis Kind of Blue. Blues, especially the classics and old guys still goin strong like John Lee Hooker. Rap: Eminem's the best lyricist but Jay Z is the whole package. Classical: Beethovan's 9th is the best thing in the world, and I'm drawn to intriguing interpretations like Il Giardino Armonico's Four Seasons. World, especially latin.

Food - Practically anything that's fresh and flavorful. When I travel, I try the local specialties - always interesting! Strangest pleasant surprise - grasshoppers can be very tasty, like earthy chips.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. New things to learn about
2. Engaging, open conversation
3. Intimacy
4. Experiencing interesting art (including music)
5. Good fresh food
6. A convertible
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The future, and what I can do to make it just a little bit better for those close to me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
There is no typical Friday night (or any night) for me. Is there for you?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Ah, a question only answered in person...

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You are curious and open-minded; like music, art, travel, food & wine; and are not looking to move quickly. If you have something new to bring to me (and I'm sure you do), and are open to new things I can bring to you, then message away!
