My self-summary
Hey! So, apparently I'm incapable of writing a lovely, flowing paragraph about myself, so I'll stick to bullet points.

I love:

Food and wine, dining out and cooking. Everyone here says they cook a mean pot of chili or a mean bowl of mac and cheese. My food is quite amicable (unless I put chili peppers in it...mmm, capsaicin).
Travel. (Wait -- someone else who loves travel? Surely you can't be serious! I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.)
Hiking, running, beach-going, swimming.
• Warm weather (see above).
• Stand-up comedy (see below).
• Stupid movies, and quoting them (see above and below).
Classical music. I play piano and sing.

You are hopefully:

Someone genuine and emotionally available, kind and compassionate, someone who is always a work in progress, and who would put up with my sense of humor. :)
What I’m doing with my life
Software consultant. If you wanna know more about this, just ask.

In other news, I'm currently trying to earn my private pilot's certificate. (I love flying.) Next year, I think I'll learn how to sail. I actually have a bucket list, and have crossed off a couple things, like getting SCUBA diving certified, viewing the Northern Lights, and road tripping across the US. Unfinished items -- there are many -- include visiting all US national parks (halfway there), and hiking the Inca Trail at Machu Picchu.
I’m really good at
Earning frequent flier miles.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
I'm a non-fiction kinda guy, and I've f*cking loved science even before I F*cking Love Science. Two of my favorite authors are particle physicist/cosmologist Lawrence Krauss and string theorist Brian Greene. (I also love Neil deGrasse Tyson, but I've never read any of his books. I just listen to his podcast.)

Movies:
I like a lot of movies, but the ones I watch over and over again are usually action or really quotable comedies:
Airplane!, The American President, Back to the Future, The Bourne Identity, Top Secret! (Okay, "The American President" isn't an action flick or a comedy, but it's Aaron Sorkin, so it's awesome.)

Shows:
I love, love, love The Big Bang Theory. It's the only show I watch regularly. But I do also like Arrested Development and Parks and Rec.
Some of my favorite shows in the past have been Battlestar Galactica (this Portlandia clip basically outlines how I first watched the show), Family Guy, Firefly, and The West Wing.

Music:
I said above that I love classical music. Here are some favorite pieces. There are more: Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, Mahler's Symphony No. 3.
For a while, I had a minor obsession with the musical, Wicked. But having recently seen The Book of Mormon, it's going to be a long time 'til I get that music out of my head. Popular music-wise, I also like a lot of stuff from the '90s and '00s. I'd love to learn about your music interests, so long as your playlist isn't mistakable for that of a 12-year-old girl.

Food:
I'm quite the foodie, and try to be open-minded. I've done three Michelin stars and molecular gastronomy, but also deep-fried testicles, and beetles on a stick from a sidewalk vendor. When not at either end of the extreme spectrum, some of my favorite foods include dan dan noodles (I need to try these some day), Brazilian rodizio, halo-halo, passionfruit and mangoes and most things with passionfruit or mangoes in them, bubble tea (especially taro-flavored), and oysters. Regardless of the diverse set of cultures that my food interests draw upon, there are no substitutes for pizza and Carvel ice cream cake.

Stand-Up Comedians:
I'm putting in a new category. I will rearrange my schedule to see any of these comedians when they're in town. (Well, not so much Carlin or Giraldo.)
Brian Posehn, George Carlin, Greg Giraldo, Louis CK, Patton Oswalt, Ron White
On a typical Friday night I am
I wanted to say, "The same thing we do every night, Pinky...." but then I searched the site to see how many people were as clever as me to come with that, and yeah...everyone's as clever as me.
