My self-summary
What is the measure of a man? Eh, that's a difficult question, but it's what you want to learn of me. Who am I? I am a teacher. A scientist. An actor. But those don't give you much to go on without inferring and speculating, and that is a barrier I'd like to remove. I'm a Renaissance man, after a fashion.

I'm a Romantic. I like caring for people, making grand gestures, planning dates, cuddling together while watching a movie, giving flowers/chocolate, the whole nine yards.
I'm a Nerd. I've got hobbies that I'm passionate about, I do research into what brings me joy, I hold onto the things I love for a long time, and I share my joy with others.
I'm a Maker. I take my imagination, and I bring it into the world. That may be food, flowers, costumes, props, or occasionally a house. Carpentry is in my blood.
I'm a Storyteller. I craft tales to amuse, uplift, and entertain my friends. I perform musicals, Shakespeare, portray characters for work, do improv comedy, and weave collaborative stories with my friends.
I'm a Gentleman. I open doors, pull out chairs, say please and thank you, I know that no means No and I'll always respect it, and when I make an oath I fulfill it.
I'm Observant. I have very strong senses, able to smell perfume while it's still in the bottle, and a memory to remember what I listen to you saying. Listening is important.

“For me, I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.” ― Neil deGrasse Tyson

Those are wise words I live by. I'm a man who tries to find the best way for everyone to get what they want, and to bring happiness to those I care about. Now, I'm not a skilled enough writer to put all of me into so few words, but hopefully this is enough of a peek to give you insight into who I am.
What I’m doing with my life
I work at Discovery Place, where I teach everybody about everything. I never thought I'd get paid to do theater, but here I am, combining it with my extensive science and education background.

I teach people about science, so that a 9 year old understands retroviruses and the basics of how the brain is segmented.
I’m really good at
Generating ideas, solving creative challenges, making analogies, cuddling, drawing, teaching high order concepts, running a light board, listening, coming up with memorable and creative dates, fencing, hiking, training animals, washing dishes, being a jungle gym, vacuuming and dusting, growing flowers, standing my ground, whittling while walking, and making girls blush in a good way.

I'm a jack of all trades, master of some. A few things I can't do: sweep, remember number sequences, figure out when a woman is flirting with me, calm my mind, forget things, spend an extended time in an art gallery, or watch an entire game of any sport.
The first things people usually notice about me
My bald head and beard are currently my most obvious features. After that, if I'm wearing a nice tie or nerdy t-shirt.

In the vein of physical things, I have some red hair in my beard, green eyes, and I'm left handed. I also produce lots of body heat, ideal for snuggling up to on a cold day.

I'm one of those people that everyone thinks that they know from somewhere. I'm fairly charismatic in person though it doesn't come out as well in typing, and I've a good voice, which are often the first things noted.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I enjoy the Star Wars books, LotR, My Side of the Mountain, anything with a survival or speculative fiction edge I'm likely to enjoy. Alternative histories are also entertaining. Just finished reading the Dresden Files.

Again, SciFi and Fantasy are fun. Comedies, even the occasional rom-com are good. Action, adventure, and mysteries are nice. As for horror, between the lack of plot and poor record with science realism, they bore me. And yes ladies, not only will I watch Disney movies with you, I can sing along. Serenity, Princess Bride, Remember the Titans, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Frozen, just to name a few. Avengers was great fun.

Bones, Castle, White Collar, Sherlock, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, and SHIELD are some shows currently in my queue. The Big Bang Theory could have been about me and my friends in high school. I also enjoy some older stuff, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Dick Van Dick Show, Fraiser, Mork and Mindy, and Firefly. Also, a big fan of Mythbusters, no surprise.

As for music, I'm pretty much open to anything. In general country and rap are not my forte, and opera gives me migraines. "Soft" rock, acapella, Irish rock, musicals I've been in/seen, and Disney songs are all great.

I love cheese and chocolate, not garlic, mushrooms, berries, or seafood. Turns out I'm allergic to that last one. I like some heat in my Mexican food. Italian and Japanese/Chinese are great, and when in doubt, I'll always get a cheeseburger.
The six things I could never do without
1) Swiss Army Knife
2) iPhone
3) The electromagnetic spectrum
4) A smattering of elements to draw from (C, O, H, N specifically)
5) New stimuli
6) Something to work on
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Xenobiology, speculative fiction, storylines, a dozen scenarios bouncing through my head, making those I care about happy, things I need to get done, how to make this moment into an action sequence, the implications of possessing various superpowers on society, how to better design things, what it would be like to ride various non-equestrian animals, how I can explain science to those around me, my exact body position, the source of all stimuli I can gather, and what geeky stuff is going on through the Internet.

All at once.

So if you ask me what I'm thinking about, I'll pick from the list of things actually on my mind and tell you about the thing you most likely want to have a conversation about.
On a typical Friday night I am
I work on Saturdays, so I don't normally stay out that late. Otherwise, I'd be playing some board games with friends, DMing a campaign, Netflix-ing, or reading for fun.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
In the past, I have let women I courted push me pretty far outside my comfort zone, and I've been burned for it. I still continue to push myself out of my comfort zone, in order to have new experiences, and have a richer live.
You should message me if
If you are looking for a knight in carbon nanotube armor. If you like to cuddle while reading or playing video games. If you like animals or hiking. If you like theater or making art. If you're a browncoat, redshirt, or would join the 501st. If you're willing to listen to me talk about technology or xenobiology. If after a movie or good book you want to discuss what happened, any logical errors, or what you'd have done. If you can hold your own in a debate, and stand up to me.

Did most of those sound like you? Then you should message me. Here are some ice-breakers, to help get the conversation going:

Who is your favorite super-hero?
What is your favorite game to play?
If you could have any superpower, what would you pick?
What is your favorite scientific principle?
What is a favorite childhood memory that you hold onto?
