I am inquisitive, weird, and easily distrac-.
My Self-Summary
I have a strong interest in all things beyond the mundane -
fantasy, sci-fi, art, game design, mythology, comparative
religions, and rich conversation. Though I may be quiet sometimes,
it's usually because I'm trying to think of just the right thing to
say.
I'm pretty mellow and not terribly loud. I think self-expression
and satisfaction are important in life. I take a fairly liberal
attitude toward most things, yet I faintly dislike change.
I love to play nerdy games like Magic: the Gathering, Dungeons
& Dragons, and video and board games.
There's few things better in life than a deep, compelling
conversation. :D
What I’m doing with my life
I'm getting a degree in English (computer science minor) with hopes
of doing something creative... video game scriptwriting, tabletop
game writing, other creative writing, or maybe something else
entirely.
I’m really good at
writing! Likewise other forms of communication - I like to teach
people things and tend to do well at helping people understand new
concepts. I also dabble in just about everything, so I'm pretty
good at improvising and coming up with what is needed for an
unexpected situation.
And I'm a pretty good listener, or so I've been told.
The first things people usually notice about me
1. I have a distinctive red-brown hair color. Or, if we're online,
they notice I like to use emoticons relatively often and always use
correct grammar and punctuation even in messengers. >.>
2. I have something to say on just about any topic, though not
necessarily a lot.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Folklore, mythology, sacred texts, fairy tales, factbooks,
science books, Harry Potter, A Canticle for Leibowitz, Edgar Allan
Poe, Lord Byron, R.A. Salvatore, Vachel Lindsay
Movies: A lot of sci-fi, fantasy, and action, hard to pick any
favorites.
Music: A little of most things, save for rap... to name a few,
Nightwish, Linkin Park, Cher, Darangen, Garth Brooks, Green Day,
Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Shania Twain, September, My Chemical
Romance, Weird Al.
Food: Cereal. I've been trying to reduce the amount of meat I
consume, especially non-organic meat, but I have a weakness for
macaroni-tuna casserole, double-pepperoni pizza, and baked chicken.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order...
1. A way to keep in touch with friends and family
2. The Internet, to work on my collaborative projects
3. A steady supply of literature in some form or another
4. A way to keep the temperature below 76 degrees
5. Milk <3
6. A word processor, to make writing manageable
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...art I've consumed, of all types.
...weird philosophical ideas and historical notes and etymologies
I've read about.
...my creative projects, which generally involve developing
interesting and fantastical characters, plot elements, and
settings.
On a typical Friday night I am
...hanging out with friends, either at one of our apartments or
another casual setting. Rarely clubs, restaurants, or other
businesses. Most likely Magic: the Gathering will be involved
somehow.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have profiles on several social websites (Facebook, etc), but I
rarely check most of them. Instead, I rely on email to keep
informed about any activity on them. When I do check them, like
many of the things I do, it comes as a flurry of activity lasting
several hours followed by significant disinterest.
You should message me if
...you like nerdy things. :3
...or if you were interested by something above this point. ;)
