I am bouncy, pouncy, and funfunfun.

My Self-Summary

I'm an ENFJ, and really judgmental about being a J, and trying to get over it. I am currently working on Delighting in life rather than Defining it. The extroversion is quite strong. I like people. Particularly people with tasty brains (nomnomnom):-)

I'm joyful, passionate, silly, questing, exploring, questioning, and creating lovely moments to be present in.

I have recently moved into a house that I purchased by myself, for myself. I'm still painting, assembling furniture, and waiting for PG&E to approve the use of the photovoltaic cells I had put on the roof. I'm also learning to take care of two newly adopted large lizards.

I'm a second generation queer, and grew up without heterosexual men in my family. As a result, I have found dating straight men difficult-- otoh, if you're someone who doesn't like societal gender roles and feel stuck by them, we might hit it off fabulously. I find dating queers to be much easier. It is also generally true that regardless of your gender, if you and I are being affectionate in public, someone, at some point, will think we are a same sex couple (and at some time, people will think we are an opposite sex couple).

I'm diabetic, which I manage with diet and exercise. I often say yes to going for walks, and need to eat fairly often.

I *just* noticed that this profile doesn't seem to contain important descriptors like poly, polyamory, ethical non-monogamy or open relationship. Given that this is a dating site, this seems pretty important to mention overtly.

The best place to learn more about me is at LJ, where I am tenacious_snail.

What I’m doing with my life

At the moment, it would be "doing environmentally-friendly/green/ecologically sustainable home improvement and upgrade projects on the house. No-VOC and non-toxic paint, energy star appliances, daylighting, insulation, and photovoltaic cells are some of the concepts/project details that are flitting through my mind.

More generally, I am being introspective and extroverted. Enjoying my amazing friends and cuddly playful cats. Trapping, neutering and returning local feral cats. Searching for the the best salted chocolate (current nominee is Michael Mischner's 72% with toffee chips and Murray River salt, though Vosges Barcelona bar is the best milk chocolate I have ever tried). Going to baseball games, giving belly rubs to friends' dogs, walking, exploring the South Bay and Peninsula. Challenging myself, taking risks, saying No to fear and Yes to joy.

I’m really good at

Smiling, napping, responding full-body to pleasure and joy, being in integrity.

Finding hobbies that cause repetitive stress injuries. I've already given up knitting and triathlons. Not sure what will be next.

I'm also good at making salads and making fondue, coaxing forth smiles, and purring when my head is scritched.

The first things people usually notice about me

Pink, Purple or Plum colored hair? My smile?

You may not think about it, but gender is one of the first things people tend to notice about someone else. While my gender has been more ambiguous in the past than it is currently, it still isn't something people are 100% certain of.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) Illusions, The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions, Touching our Strength, The Time Traveller's Wife.

More generally, Dorothy Allison, Margeret Atwood, Michael Chabon, Barbara Kingsolver, Mercedes Lackey, Deborah Madison and the obligatory dash of Robert Heinlein.

(b) Dr. Strangelove and Casablanca, but I really see movies fairly infrequently, and mostly in order to make the children I care about happy. I am joyfully television-free.

(c) the score to La Cage Aux Folles, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Indigo Girls, Great Big Sea.

(d) saag paneer, broccoli, roasted garlic, fromage d'affinois. I grew up in New Orleans, and most recently moved from a location between Greens and Chez Panisse. I've spent my adult life as a vegetarian, mostly as "one who also eats seafood", but sometimes not. Fresh, organic, in season, and low on the food chain are all things I care about in food. I'm also diabetic, which I manage via a pescatarian low-glycemic diet, so that makes me eat rather often and somewhat curiously.

The six things I could never do without

Friends, love, sunshine, cheese, Internet access, good shoes.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Relationships, menu planning, how to bring more joy into my life and the world around me.

On a typical Friday night I am

* Enjoying the company of friends
* At a baseball game
* Finding out who is wrong on the Internet
* Freaking out the mundanes
* Very unlikely to be watching a recently-released movie or gaming (though people I love are likely to be engaged in WoW, KoL or SL, it isn't something I do personally).

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I try to live a transparent life. If there is something you want to know, ask me.

You should message me if

If you let the warm soft animal of your body love what it loves. Or really, if you let your life be inspired by any line from a Mary Oliver poem.

If you'd like to talk to me, email with me, or get to know me better. Or already know me IRL and something about this profile made you smile and wonder.

I'm friendly, extroverted, fun, and don't bite. (Well, actually, I love to bite, but that is secondary to my consent fetish...so I bite, but only people who'd like me to bite them)
