My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Ah, the self summary. The place where everyone scrambles to get the requisite 100 characters. And I just reached it! But I'll give you a bit more than that, I guess. Basically, I overthink about almost anything it is possible to overthink, and really wish I could get those witty comments out on the spur of the moment instead of thinking what to say a few hours to days later. I enjoy singing, from baroque to rock, and acting, though I'm not as good at that. In contrast, I can be pretty shy around people I don't know and sometimes can't think of much to say, so you'll have to bear with me. Around people I do know I'm very animated and can be rather silly, again, something you'll have to bear with.

I am knowledgeable, musical, and complex.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Well, I used to be at university, but as a result of rather chronic procrastination, I'm not allowed back to the uni for the duration of 2011. Yeah, so pretty significant procrastination there. Was thinking of getting back to my Planning degree in 2012, but now reconsidering.
I work at a real estate agency full time these days, as a receptionist/internet & social media organiser, and am thinking of staying there until 2012, thereafter possibly moving to Melbourne, either to do a Music Theatre degree or a Bachelor of Environments (Planning). Those two options are kiiiinda different from each other, and I haven't decided which one I want to take yet.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Sounding more confident than I am, especially in writing, and knowing the full background story of something trivial raised in passing conversation. I once dubbed myself 'an encyclopedia of useless knowledge', although it can come in use every so often.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My facial hair most likely, although this is getting less common as I get older - I've had it almost constantly since I was 15. They also might notice my complete lack of ability in thinking of something interesting to say beyond the immediate circumstances, a product of talking to people I don't know. I'm sorry! I do try my best, and it generally does get better.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I am very much enamoured of the fantasy/sci-fi genre, although have just recently become more interested in some of the 'classics'. A short list of authors I enjoy, in no particular order would include: C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Garth Nix, Hal Duncan, the Brönte sisters, Gregory Maguire and Philip Pullman.

As to movies, I must admit I'm not much of a connoisseur, despite having worked at a cinema for two and a half years. I often tend to find the redeeming parts of a film, and forgive the mistakes. This works for books as well, actually.

In music I have a wide range of tastes, classical to contemporary, but this excludes hip-hop, metal and most rap. I tend to like the most music under the banner of 'alternative rock' or 'indie'. My favourite artists at the moment would be: Anberlin, Arcade Fire, The Beatles, Sarah Blasko, Coldplay, Luca (only released one EP and then disappeared into the void, unfortunately), The Middle East, Snow Patrol, Regina Spektor, Sufjan Stevens and Switchfoot.

As to food, I don't really have any qualms, except an aversion for most seafood.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Hm. I guess...
1. An alarm clock - to force myself to get up in the mornings.
2. A new book to read.
3. My voice so I can sing to myself absentmindedly.
4. A cat of some form.
5. The stars to gaze at.
6. My JustRyam :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Architecture, and related urban planning problems. Sounds a bit dry I guess, but architecture has always fascinated me and I always take the opportunity to check out what's around me when I'm in a new place.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Not doing much, really. I might be at home on the internet or watching TV, I might be at my partner's house, possibly at a musical rehearsal if I'm in it for that show, or about once a month out with friends. I probably should get out more often...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Frankly? I'm not very good at keeping secrets, or that is, my own secrets, so there's not much about me which you can't find out, with some gentle prodding. I guess a private thing would be that I'm gay, as, while generally I'll be happy to say I have a boyfriend if it comes up in conversation, I don't generally volunteer it myself, and most people generally don't guess it of me. It was less likely to become known to acquaintances before my current partner for obvious reasons. But really, there's nothing about myself that I would have a real issue telling someone about if I felt they seemed trustworthy.

You're able to have and interested in intelligent conversation, laid-back, maybe a little 'nerdy', and want to make friends with someone like minded.
