My self-summary Propose an edit

As you may be able to tell from my username (which I am well aware I misspelled, all two of you who would notice), I am a nerd. I am also a geek. I am aware that those are two different things. Yes, I watch Star Trek, and yes I play Dungeons and Dragons. Please don't let that scare you away. It's not like the nerdiness is overpowering or anything... (LIES!)

When I finally make my way to university, I'm hoping to go into something related to anthropology (most likely linguistics), history, or English, the first option being far preferred over the others. It isn't that history or English don't interest me, it's just that I like money.

I love language. I love it both aesthetically and scientifically. I'm what you would call a philologist (and believe I have to be one in order to actually know what a philologist is). I love to look up the etymology and history of words. I'm interested in what happened to the word "thou". Seriously. What the hell happened to it?

On a related note, what exactly am I "more literary" or "more scientific" than?

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I'm in my last year of high school. When I'm done with that, probably heading straight into university, probably the University of Toronto, unless I can get into something better. If everything works out, I'll major in anthropology, hopefully getting a Ph.D (pssh). And then I'll become a professor at Oxford. And then I'll set up a colony on Mars. Then find the cure for aging. Woo.

If you make your goals impossible, then you'll always be at exactly the same stage in achieving them! No disappointments!

Coming up with totally useless but "interesting" facts. I then try to work these into completely irrelevant conversations, often resulting in me being on the receiving end of odd looks.

My favourite books include: Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, Neuromancer by William Gibson, Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and The Man in the High Castle, by Philip K. Dick. Like everyone else near my age group, I love Watchmen I have also fallen quite in love with Mr. William Shakespeare. Make of that what you will.

Favourite movies: Office Space, The even numbered Star Trek movies (except for Nemesis), Dr. Strangelove, Kenneth Branagh's version of Hamlet, and anything from Monty Python. I love to watch awful movies like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, or The Creeping Terror for the sheer hilarity of them.

As for music, I'm afraid I like too many bands to listen here. I've got somewhat eclectic tastes, leaning towards progressive and psychedelic rock. At the moment the bands I could consider my favourites are the Grateful Dead and King Crimson.

(I know this wasn't listed, but I felt obliged to include it) I watch more TV than I wish I did, but my favourite shows are Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9), Monty Python's Flying Circus, GBH (chances are very high you will not have heard of this show. It's British. It has nothing to do with the band GBH), Farscape, and Get Smart.

I'm not too picky with food. I love curry and spicy foods in general. I also love to eat Vietnamese or other Asian foods.
