My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Fear keeps us committed to the path we're on when we know we're going nowhere. Challenge yourself, and you'll be rewarded.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Pretending to be a PhD student. I study heat transfer in the Earth, shoot lasers at things, and melt stuff. I've decided that world domination is beneath me, however. So, you've nothing to worry about... for now.

People tend to use categories they define them self to understand others. I'm a scientist, sure, but I seriously considered being a musician before that. And a writer. And a historian. And a photographer. I'm fascinated by how people arrive at their own particular world view, but also horribly judgmental... in my head. Usually.

One day I hope to: live somewhere other than Missouri, travel to every continent, cook a meal on my grill without meat, have a job that's useful, grow trees by singing to them, herd zombies. I'm fairly certain that they're all doable. Except the part about getting a job.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
World domination. Zombie hunting. Being a zombie. Being a robot. Saying "Argghhhh!!!" like a pirate. Avoiding Russians with vodka shots. Working bacon into any conversation. Talking to small furry animals. Drinking coffee.

I'm less good at: photography, the piano, hiking, biking, constraining the growth in my music library, being a ninja.

I'd like to be better at: the piano, waking up before 10 am, awkward dancing in public, speaking french or german so all the expats I know can't talk about me behind my back, herding of pack animals, not using my car, flying.
The first things people usually notice about me

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
books: Usually only read books that start with the words "Applied", "Numerical", "Heat", or "Geodynamic". Can't remember the last time I read a book for fun.

tv: Battlestar Galactica, Futurama, Rome, Deadwood, Game of Thrones, 30 Rock, Gold Rush, Top Gear (U.K.), Firefly, Twin Peaks, Arrested Development, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad.

movies: stuff that's well written, quirky, character-oriented, and has gratuitous nudity and violence. I know, I'm picky. Also indy movies, and new queer cinema.

food: Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, chocolate, nan, Italian. I'm a very adventurous picky eater.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
air. water. food. sleep. brains. coffee.

and friends. That's I win a prize?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Rocks, world domination, what countries I can move to so I don't have to pay back my student loans, ruining my scientific career by publishing, brains.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Why would anyone ever think of any day of their life as "typical"?

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You have too much money and you want to subsidize my addiction to graham crackers.
You want a friend who's quirky, says completely random things a lot, is even tempered even when drunk, wants to explore the world.
If you don't suck (figuratively pervert!).
