I am playful, fiery-tempered, and sensous.

My Self-Summary

Hmm... boring biographical stuff. 26-yr-old girl in Orlando, Florida. Currently waiting tables. (Exciting, right? Woot.) Grew up here, in Deltona and DeLand, went to North Carolina for college (political science), and came home. Living in an occasionally commune-esque house with my husband, my cat, and one or more (occasionally commune-esque, remember?) of my friends at any given time. Although I occasionally harbor dreams of world domination, I am essentially unambitious, at least when it comes to temporal power and wealth. Esoteric power is another thing entirely, as it has the potential to be amusing.

I like the word "esoteric."

I like words in general, actually. I also like conspiracy theories - I find them funny. I play more RPGs than is probably healthy for any human being. And I am, essentially, a fluffy playful kitten.

Currently I am on hiatus from either believing or disbelieving in things. I'll let you know how that works out.

I game obsessively (tabletop and LARP), and am trying very hard to learn that it really is ok NOT to agree to join your friend's new game! I'm currently learning to make websites, though so far I've only made (surprise, surprise) game-related ones. (www.dark-embrace.org - shameless plug!) I also make papier-mache masks (like the Venetian ones, only not made in Venice), and I think I'm getting pretty good at it, if I do say so myself.

Ask me about my phobia of giant squid!

What I’m doing with my life

Living it.

I’m really good at

reading, writing... ('rithmatic? naah...), philosophizing, theologizing, and all-around bullshitting. I do a decent Tarot reading. I have an uncanny talent for balancing things on the tip of my finger and I can wriggle out of every martial arts hold tried on me to date. Also I sing.

The first things people usually notice about me

Scary guys at IHOP tell me it's my eyes. It's probably either my hair or my laugh - I have a rather loud laugh, and I'm easily amused.

Edit: Linden says it's that space in the universe not made up of nothing but which is instead made up of me, and makes the world nicer. Red's going with smile; Matt says it's my bullheaded stubbornness (which he insists is positive.) Phello says it's the army of Littles that follows me.

Isn't it always helpful to get outside opinions?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Oh dear. How much space do they give? Let's group some of this into broad categories...

(a) Books Orson Scott Card, Heinlein, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis. Terry Pratchett. Neil Gaiman. Everything ever written by those guys. Most Eddings, though he gets repetitive. Harry Potter. Series of Unfortunate Events. Peter S. Beagle's "The Last Unicorn" and "The Innkeeper's Song." George R. R. Martin's "Song of Fire and Ice." Asprin's "Time Scout" series. Monica Hughes & Diane Duane, if you're not ashamed to read YA fiction. Parke Godwin's "Waiting For The Galactic Bus." Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Robert Anton Wilson's "Illuminatus!" trilogy and "Schrodinger's Cat," plus his "Everything's Under Control" encyclopedia of conspiracy theories. The Principia Discordia. The itty-bitty part of "Godel, Escher, Bach" that I've been able to read and comprehend. Most stuff by Stephen King, especially the Dark Tower. A very old version of the Robin Hood stories, written in archaic language, read to (literally) pieces when I was but a wee lass, and only recently rediscovered in my aunt's house. David Weber's "Honor Harrington" books. H.P. Lovecraft short stories. Knights of the Dinner Table comics. Barbara Hambly's "The Unschooled Wizard." Holly Black's Modern Tales of Faerie. Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.

(b) Movies The Great Escape, Singin' in the Rain, America's Sweethearts, Tesis (in Spanish), Series 7: The Contenders, Like Water For Chocolate, Frida, Abre Los Ojos (the movie Vanilla Sky was based on), Memento, But I'm A Cheerleader, Stripes, Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick (which I resisted seeing for a very long time and just recently was forced to watch - instant conversion), Romeo & Juliet (yes, the Claire Danes one), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Last Unicorn, anything by Really Useful Films, Miracle on 34th Street (the original), A Clockwork Orange (of course), Ocean's Eleven, Snatch, Full Monty, Rat Race, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Sin City, Zero Effect, The Saint, Pan's Labyrinth, Serenity, Fifth Element, Hard Candy

(c) Music Bif Naked, Sublime, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, Great Big Sea, Ondar, Clandestine, Eve 6, some Green Day, some Metallica, Ben Folds Five, Dear Janes, some Nine Inch Nails, Irish drinking songs, Emerald Rose, Blackmore's Night, Heather Alexander, Heather Dale, Runrig, Voltaire, One Night Stan, Empty Hats, Jennifer Warnes

(d) Food any cheese that does not derive its flavor from mold, just about any meat (I'm a carnivore), well-made hummus, olive tapanade, smoked oysters, gyro sandwiches, tzatziki sauce, crispy sesame beef with lo mein from Hunan Chinese in Chapel Hill, the shrimp sauce and ginger sauce you get in Japanese restaurants, La Hacienda's carnitas dinner, grilled onions, latkes, fudge crostada, scottish shortbread, Dove dark chocolate, Nestle's (NOT Hershey's) milk chocolate, gooey butter cake from The Lady & Sons, Cafe Du Monde beignets, vanilla rooibus tea, and tomato soup with a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.

The six things I could never do without

1) books, 2) the ocean, under the Florida sun or the full moon, 3) internet access, 4) Diet Coke (mild addiction), 5) music, 6) the eternal, ever-changing but everpresent Game.

(Edit: a previous listing, my lucky pink sunglasses, had to be removed, as they have tragically been broken and I don't have the heart to replace them. So I guess I can do without them. Though it doesn't make me happy.)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

my friends, story ideas, the plot of the last book I read (movie/tv show I watched) and how it could/should have gone, politics (a LOT), metaphysical/theological questions (do animals have souls? what's the appropriate symbolic interpretation of the Genesis story? how does omniscience work in a world where free will exists - or does it?), past lives, my characters in various games and the intrigue they get involved in, random logical puzzles.

On a typical Friday night I am

With my current schedule? Probably sleeping. If I'm being social at all, it's probably something highly exciting like watching a movie at a friend's apartment. It's Thursday nights and Saturday nights that stuff happens. That's when we go to I-Bar or open mike nights, that's when we go to IHOP or Steak & Shake at 3 in the morning and color the little paper hats and throw maraschino cherries at each other. That's when we randomly run through the woods in Cassadega or play on the playground at someone's apartment complex or practice sparring with each other or have drunken debauchery after which we wind up sleeping on the floor, tumbled together like a pile of kittens.

Edit: While the preceding is still true, I do have something I do on Friday nights. If you've been paying attention at all, you should not be in the least bit surprised to learn that it is the night of our Vampire LARP.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

...I am a Twilight lolfan.

DON'T JUDGE ME!!!

You should message me if

You actually mean it when you say you're looking for friends, because I'm really (REALLY) not looking for anything else. Or if you're in Central Florida and need somewhere to crash.

(later edit)...ok, seriously? SERIOUSLY. I don't know how else to say this, so I'm going to be blunt. IF YOU'RE TRYING TO HAVE SEX WITH ME, DON'T MESSAGE ME. I mean, you can if you want to - I'll talk to you - but I'll be falling off my chair screaming with laughter the whole time, and probably forwarding your sillier attempts to my friends. Just giving you fair warning.
