My self-summary
As an infant, I was abandoned in the mystical forest of Kuriah. I was raised by wolves until the age of four; it was then that I was found and adopted by the great wizard Gurguflux, who trained me in the ways of the yadda yadda ok now that I've written an opening paragraph which avoids the usual cliches, let's get down to business.

I recently moved here from North Carolina, and so far I'm loving everything about the bay area.

I've been a gymnast since I was about 5. I competed up to the elite level, then got injured and had to quit in 2009. I still work out to stay in shape, but my main focus these days is coaching.

I love science, and I particularly love cosmology. I'm a HUGE fan of Carl Sagan. Often when I'm out camping, I'll spend hours outside just staring at the night sky. The size and scope of the universe, the enormity of some of the things I'm looking at, the fact that I'm quite literally looking millions of years back in time -- these things are beautiful and inspiring to me.

I like artsy video games -- recent favorites include Journey, Dear Esther, and Shadow of the Colossus. I've also been known to play a few rounds of Starcraft, Dota, or Smash Brothers from time to time.

Other hobbies include music and juggling (both of which I've done professionally in the past, but don't much any more).
What I’m doing with my life
Coaching gymnastics, mainly. I've been very lucky; most people spend years, decades, even their entire lives searching for work that they enjoy and that still pays them a living wage; I've found what I want to do and I've been doing it since high school.
I’m really good at
Gymnastics, juggling, teaching/coaching, learning music by ear, storytelling, making terrible puns
The first things people usually notice about me
I am, by definition, the least qualified person in the world to answer this. You'll have to find out for yourself!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Ender Series (especially Speaker for the Dead), Watership Down, The Pale Blue Dot, The Varieties of Scientific Experience, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Harry Potter, the Unicorn Chronicles

Movies: Lincoln, Gladiator, The Usual Suspects, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (episodes 4-6, of course -- I refuse to acknowledge the existence of any alleged prequels), Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers

Shows: House, Cosmos, the Daily Show, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Paranoia Agent

Music: (oh boy, this is gonna be a long one)
BigGiantCircles, Symphony of Science, Great Big Sea, Yoko Kanno, Malukah, Lindsey Stirling, The Piano Guys, The Eagles, Yasunori Mitsuda, Dave Wise, Kate Covington, Jill and Andrew "Zircon" Aversa (close friends of mine), Sole Signal, Tweex, Jimmy Hinson, A_Rival, Ziwtra, Christopher Tin, She, and way too many others to list.
Most of my music library comes from my friends on OCReMix (and if you're familiar with OCR, you may have heard some of my own stuff -- my remixer handle is Geoffrey Taucer)

Food: Anything
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The meaning of life, our place in the universe, the spectacular beauty contained in every inch of the night sky as well as every living cell on the planet.

What I want to study when I (hopefully eventually) go back to school. Physics, psychology, philosophy, kinesiology, biology, music, game studies, math -- too many fascinating subjects, and not enough time or money to pursue them all.

Either that, or cooking up new methods to more effectively train whatever gymnastics skills my students are most struggling with.
On a typical Friday night I am
Coaching, playing with Darwin (my dog), playing Starcraft or Dota with my brother.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Despite my general reflexive dislike of all pop hit music, I will confess to being a huge fan of Owl City. His stuff is just so cheerful and so unabashedly nerdy, and I love it.
