My self-summary
I think I'm going to revamp my profile. It looks like it was written by an angry, sad man. Probably because it was. I'm happier now & ready to share that joy if someone cares to join me in laughter.
If I read the current profile I certainly wouldn't date me!
My Facebook name is ThatKelly TaylorGuy.. No, for real. It is.
I realize that I don't "read well" online. Not that I'm illiterate, but that I come across odd or off-putting. (Mmmmmmmmmmm, pudding) Real life folks tend to like me so I'm okay with that.
I am a member of KEXP's "Amplifier Club" & a long-time subscriber to Juxtapoz magazine.

What I’m doing with my life
SUPER excited to be planning "BILL HICKS LIVES ~ SEATTLE 2014, a quint-annual(??) event I host, for February 2014. I did 2004 & 2009 in Oklahoma City and Bill's 50th B-day in 2011.
Other than that, basically working & working. Did I mention working? I was a pastry baker for a major bagel shop in Redmond but now I bake bagels for them. Weekdays I deliver food to business offices for a food courier service. I got a job 12 hours after arriving & was at work within 36. I have 3 super simple jobs for which I am slightly overcompensated. I love them all. Let's not tell the delivery jobs that I love the bakery more. Shhhhh...

"So, what are you looking for?" seems to be the most prevalent question I get on here.
Short answer "a) no idea & b) all kinds of stuff".
The long answer depends when you ask me...
I'm always open to meeting new people and going to dinner, a concert or whatever so that's an option. I am open to ideas from the peanut gallery. What'cha got?
I'm a hopeless (hapless? LOL) romantic so I'd like to eventually settle back down again. I know. Weird? Nope. I just believe in the dream is all. Happiness is best shared with others, but what do I know?
I think I'm too smart to think one of the next 2-3 women I go out with will be "the one" but the only way to find out is to go out. Right? I think "an activity partner that rocks" is pretty much exactly where I'm at right now.
One of my answers in the column on the right is a lie. (updated 02/06/13)
I’m really good at
baking. cooking. navigating. being silly. being offensive while being offended easily. being misunderstood or "taken the wrong way". getting on people's nerves AND/OR good sides. being harmfully honest. Trying to be clever/humorous & sounding like I don't like myself ;^)~ (ya see I say that because this whole section reads like a bitter ex wrote it & it's SUPPOSED to be funny)
The first things people usually notice about me
my teeth. I told the dentist I wanted the whitest teeth they made... I got 'em! A friend called them "sickeningly white". Sadly, they don't make glow-in-the-dark! :^(
Apparently, I have a highly recognizable voice. People will come up & say "I thought 'that sounds like KT but I haven't seen him in forever' & there you were 4 bar stools away!". Even someone at the new job said "I thought I heard you on a commercial the other day". It's creepy weird but also a good thing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I am SUPER excited about seeing live music now that I live here. Until recently, I had only seen Dead Can Dance in August (while here on vacation) & Dick Dale at The Crocodile. So far this May I have seen Cloud Cult, Bleeding Rainbow, The Cave Singers, April Macie, Michael McDonald (comedian) & am going to Kate Nash on May 15th!!!

This covers all of the subjects here: funny stuff. dark stuff. dark-funny stuff.
FILM: Here's either a big red flag or the reason why you'll dig me. I consider the following films to be "love stories": Dog Day Afternoon (Vietnam vet robs bank to pay for lover's sex change), Bonnie & Clyde (23yr old woman gunned down for standing by her man), True Romance (I mean... COME ON! Misanthrope meets hooker with a heart of gold.), Natural Born Killers (too hard to explain here but they WERE in love). There are more but I can't recall them right away. I'm a hopeless romantic. What can I say?
I think my my newest fave romance is Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom"! Seen it twice in theaters so far.

MUSIC: WEEN is my favorite band so that should tell you a little too much.
For some reason, for a while I had been on a big Decemberists & Neutral Milk Hotel kick. I think it's Jeff Mangum's voice & Colin Meloy's voice/story telling.
The following section is my FB music cut & pasted:
Samantha Crain, Röyksopp, Peter Murphy, Emmylou Harris, Barry Kooda, Soul Coughing & solo Mike Doughty, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Daft Punk, the old Alice in Chains
Gorillaz, Captain Sensible, The Damned, Public Enemy, Waylon Jennings, Moby, Huun-Huur-Tu, Joy Division, George Jones, Primus & all things Les Claypool, Fever Ray, Nick Cave, Bee Gees, Merle Haggard, The White Stripes, the bird and the bee, Wanda Jackson, Klipspringer, JUNEBUG SPADE, akron/family, Willie Nelson, Sherree Chamberlain, Kite Flying Robot, Death Cab for Cutie, The Knife, The Stranglers, The Cure, The Cramps, PJ Harvey, Tom Waits, Gary Numan, The Smiths, Queen, The Buck Pets, The Breeders, BLOODY OL MULE, Cake, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Ape Angel, The Recidivists, Reverend Horton Heat, Dum Dum Girls, The Beatles, Pearl Jam, The Ramones, Bob Marley, Ozzy, RHCP, Eric Clapton, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Neil Young. Girls and many many more.
It failed to mention Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas (the crown prince of dance), Muddy Waters, Lightning Hopkins or any other Stax/Volt or Chess Records folks.
TV: Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, South Park, Dr Katz, King Of The Hill (are you noticing a trend), 50% of Gordon Ramsay's shows, Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, True Blood, Breaking Bad, Jon Benjamin Has A Van...
FOOD: I'm a baker that also can cook so I prefer sweets to most things. Red meat good: vegetables bad! ;^)
I don't read as much as I should. I went through a period where I actually said "I don't read books" until I realized how idiotic that made me sound.
The six things I could never do without
1) Family, important to me but doesn't have to be to you. My family takes the fun OUT of dysfunction we're so messed up. That's why they are in Dallas & I am in Washington. Love them all to death though, the twisted fu@#s
2) Friends, another "must have" either due to low self-esteem or high intelligence. Not quite sure which but I love my friends!
3) Music, the soundtrack to our lives & little time markers. "We are the makers of the music & we are the dreamers of the dreams" (who said that? extra points if you know, even if you have to Google it)
4) Movies, the great escape for people too lazy to read!
5) Chocolate/Baking/Cooking/Mexican food... Need I explain?
6) trying/caring/wanting to achieve: I didn't learn/remember until recently that growing, learning & getting to be a better me is a non-stop, ever-evolving event. Life is a journey not a race to a destination.
I'm going to add a 7th because it deems talking about or at least knowing: I smoke pot, not 24/7 but usually daily otherwise I can be dickish, ridden with insomnia and forget to eat or slow down my racing brain. If the idea of that repulses you please carry on without me; we'll both be fine. Thank you for understanding & not being "that way" about it. :^D
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"the big money hustle"; how to look toward & prepare for the future while appreciating the present and not living in the past.
On a typical Friday night I am
being atypical.
Lately, I have been going to The Parlor Live comedy club in Bellevue if I like the comic. Tickets are nearly always free so that makes the 2-item minimum easier on the entertainment budget.
I work 3 jobs, 6 days a week @ 50+ hours yet somehow am off weeknights after 6pm all week. I have an almost 40 hour period off and another almost day & a half period. I am apparently a scheduling master.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am simultaneously more scared than I admit yet more self-assured than I realize. I tend to be one when I should be the other & vice-versa.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 27–41
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
you would like to. See how easy that was? Thanks. :^D
