My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Step One: complain just a tiny bit about trying to capture myself in a short paragraph or two.

Step Two: give it a go.

So, hi there. I'm Nate. Local writer (horror and crime), bearded guy (most of the time), master of sarcasm, and all around person. Well, I like to think I'm an all around person. I suppose that's really for others to judge. I like books, cooking, movies, awesome food (if we go out, I'll probably suggest Three Little Pigs as a good eating spot), my cats, and my motorcycle.

Can't say I'm really 'searching' for anything, relationship-wise. I'm in a very 'what happens, happens' portion of my life. I'm open to just about anything from chit chat, hanging out, dating, whatever. I don't have any kind of endgame in mind, but if there's a connection...yay!

Oh, and hi. Nice to meetcha.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
After years of thinking I should just go for it, I recently started working a second job at a local Thai place. So I'm a line cook now. At least, I'm a line cook three nights a week. Yay!

Other than that, I'm writing a bunch, touring the food trailers around town (there's so many!), taking longer and longer rides on my motorcycle, slowly making my apartment more presentable, and feeling glad I rescued a second cat.

Why? What are you up to?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
That writing thing, sarcasm, generally being dorky, and searching cookbooks for recipes I want to try. I'm sure there are other things...hugs, for instance. I kick ass at hugging. Like, I'm nationally ranked.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm really not sure. If I'm sporting a beard, it's probably that. If aura? Nah, probably just that I'm tall. Or that I'm wearing a goofy T-shirt.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

This might take a while, and I'm sure I'll keep adding to it, but here goes...

BOOKS: On the less contemporary end, I love H.G. Wells, Stoker's Dracula, Animal Farm, 1984, Silas Marner, Shirley Jackson's work, Frankenstein, H.P. Lovecraft, A Turn of the Screw.

For modern authors, I love just about anything by Gillian Flynn, Joe R. Lansdale, Elmore Leonard, Laird Barron, Peter Straub, Lee Thomas, Sarah Langan, Stephen King, Paul Tremblay, Gemma Files, and at least a dozen others who are escaping my thoughts right now...

MOVIES: I love documentaries, good comedies, standup comedy specials, and any horror movie that's more than just gore or torture for torture's sake. Horror flicks can make you think even as they disturb... Take Shelter, The Cabin in the Woods, Evil Dead (original), [REC], We Are What We Are, House of the Devil, Rammbock, Dawn of the Dead (original and remake), The Shining, The Changeling, Sinister, Alien,Paranormal Activity, Donkey Punch, Django Unchained, Exit through the Gift Shop, The Pruitt-Igoe Myth, Dazed and Confused, and on and on and on...

SHOWS: Justified, American Horror Story, Sons of Anarchy, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, Game of Thrones, Californication, The Americans, Top Chef, So You Think You Can Dance, It's Always Sunny in Philidelpia, Venture Brothers, Rescue Me, Lost, Breaking Bad, Community, OZ

MUSIC: The Afghan Whigs, The Jealous Sound, The Twilight Singers, The Gaslight Anthem, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Pete Yorn, Phoenix, Neon Trees, Motion City Soundtrack, Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Muse, Alkaline Trio, Childish Gambino

Food: I'll try damn near anything!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My cat, friends, books, good food, my motorcycle, a...sixth thing?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Stories I want to write and my next motorcycle destination.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It really depends from week-to-week. Sometimes I'm out. Sometimes I'm in. Sometimes I'll stand in my doorway so I can be both.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I cooked a chicken in Reno just to watch it fry...

Also, I probably say 'dude' more than a person in their late-thirties should. Not that I care much.
