My self-summary
I moved to SF from Chicago last May. I still know approximately no one outside of work (approximately), so I’m mostly looking to actually make some friends around here.

I have an intense love of novelty and get pretty enthusiastic about new things. If you show me something new I’ll probably like it. I’d also like to think I’m not all that judgmental. To say that I’m laid back may be an understatement; it’s extremely difficult to make me angry.

I'm also absurdly in love with science and the philosophy of science and the picture you get in your head of a guy in a lab-coat clinking beakers together when you think about science and I'm liable to go off on tangents about how great science is.
What I’m doing with my life
I finished undergrad last May majoring in Biology and Psychology, and now work at a research institute as a Bioinformatics Technician (if you’re unfamiliar, it’s just biology with computers). I used to think I was really smart. It’s surprising how quickly working in an environment where all of your peers are actual post-docs relieves you of that notion.

I’d still really like to go to grad school in the future and get a PhD, though I’m not sure if I want to go more towards stuff like brain-computer interfaces and neural prosthetics or keep going the informatics route.
I’m really good at
I’m really good at nothing, but I’m pretty good at a lot of things. I like to draw and paint, and write little bits of comedy and speculative fiction, and make little games, and put together videos, and 3d model, and animate. I know around six programming languages, and can say about six sentences of Chinese. I like to debate about just about anything, regardless of whether I actually know what I’m talking about. I love hiking but get to do it pretty rarely. I also love board games, and I play way too many vidya games. My interests are a lot broader than I have the time for and as a result they don’t really get the attention they deserve.

Also I like stupid puns and wordplay. Like, too much.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, Patty says "You have a witty charm and are tastefully sarcastic. You should talk about your intelligence, because you sure do have a lot of that. Also mention your creativity!!"

That was pretty nice, Patty. Thanks. (Patty's my BFF in Chicago if you were curious)

The six things I could never do without
This is kind of like asking "how boringly can you list the same six things as everyone else?" so I'm going to, instead, list the six things in the world I am most ambivalent towards:
1. Jewish Holidays
2. Velveeta Cheese
3. The Holographic Principle
4. Krumping
5. Cellular Phones
6. Pierre-Auguste Renoir
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I wish I knew. My brain goes a lot of places and it’s hard to keep track of. So, one day I might be fallaciously attempting to disprove the second law of thermodynamics and then the next I might be extremely concerned with the shape of people’s torsos.

Also, stupid sexy flanders.
On a typical Friday night I am
I honestly couldn't tell you, but I'm sure whatever it happens to be it is like the most important thing in the world to me at that moment.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm actually not ambivalent towards Renoir, he's my favorite.

Also I’m a really big nerd. That’s not really private it’s just kind of obvious, though.
