I enjoy hiking quite a bit, and usually combine it with geocaching.
My goal over the next year is to do more traveling than I have in the past, and managed to get in a nice trip to Las Vegas this past February (visited Hoover Dam, where my photo was taken). I find it particularly nice to get away somewhere warm and sunny at least for a little while during the winter.
I like to go camping during the summer. It's a good way to get away and relax and I use it as a good time to do some hiking along the nature trails, as well as just chill and read or work on my writing. I will admit that I cheat and generally use a camper (I have a small tow-behind) simply because it's easy and allows for more time relaxing by the fire.
Currently planning a trip to Burning Man in 2014. It's shaping up to be quite the adventure and should be really an interesting checkmark off my bucket list.
I will say I'm very good at my job, which I have the luxury of also enjoying tremendously yet generally don't have to take it past the end of the work day. It's certainly not the centerpiece of my life, however.
I'm also the type that likes to take on problems, and solve them - whether it's professionally or personally.
When it comes to entertainment: Sci-fi, fantasy, dramas, you name it I probably like it.
Movies that stand out are things like Amilie, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, most other fantasy/scifi. Good dramas like Grand Canyon. Character pieces like The Usual Suspects. Classics like My Fair Lady or The Godfather. Quintin Tarrantino as much as Steven Spielberg. Romantic comedies, non-romantic comedies, dorky comedies. Pretty much if you throw a dart at the board, I'm sure there's something that I like where it hits.
Some of my favorite TV show are things like True Blood, Game of Thrones, Shameless, Dexter - really the gamut of the pay-TV original series are all so good. Burn Notice, White Collar and most of the other good USA series. Firefly, Battlestar Galactica. Daily Show, Colbert Report. While it might seem that I'm a bit of a couch dweller, I tend to DVR things to watch on rainy days or cold winters rather than otherwise waste a perfectly good day.
I enjoy good food and have no particular favorite, except maybe sushi. Again, something that is somewhat mood dependent. I lean towards cooking good meals at home, rather that constantly eating out. Cooking as a couple is fun as well, and family style meals with friends or family is a good thing.
Books: I lean towards sci-fi and fantasy for fiction (at the time of writing this, I'm re-reading Ender's Game for the first time in 20 years). When I do read non-fiction, would be travel books or maybe good biographies/histories.

I'm also always looking for activity partners. Interested in doing some trail hiking or joining me on a geocaching treasure hunt, drop me a line! Need a movie buddy or hate eating out alone? New friends are always a good thing :)
