My self-summary
I'm funny, I can't sit still for any length of time, and I'm good at what I do whenever I get around to doing it. I can be really impulsive, it just takes me a while.

...Also my username on here is TheIronJef (this is me cheating at Quickmatch).
What I’m doing with my life
Working diligently away at the San Diego Air & Space Museum, and spending too much time on my various hobbies.

I'm recently all kinds of polyamorous, so I'm spending a lot of my life redesigning this profile to reflect that a) I'm now in an open relationship, and B) It isn't 2009.
I’m really good at
Anything involving my hands, brain, or mouth. Swimming, writing, conversation. Painting and modeling miniatures. I started out atrocious but over the past few years I've discovered enough tricks to fake being good at it.

I can order crowds into anything. Useful for when my world domination plans come to fruition. If you need a riot incited, or maybe a riot quelled, I might be your guy.

The first things people usually notice about me
Definitely my voice. I keep hearing I have one of those commanding radio voices. Useful stuff. And after a few minutes it's the overwhelming aura of genial nerdiness. I'm a renaissance man about all kinds of things that no one should be versed in, and I love to discuss. Plus I look like Seth Rogen. I dunno if that's maybe your thing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A. Anything by Neal Stephenson currently. You know Zodiac, Snow Crash, Diamond Age, Cyptonomicon, or Quicksilver and love them, message me immediately for we have much to discuss. Old favorites include: Lolita, Lord of the Rings, The End of Alice, anything by Orson Scott Card before he went all preachy and crazy (*upon post-2009 reflection, that means Ender's Game, and then also any article about how much of a creepster homophobe Card turned out to be), anything by Anne Rice without castrati or mummies in it (or Jesus I guess, damn what happened to her), and the Taran Wanderer series (kid's books yay!)

B. My friends all make fun of me for disliking as many movies as I do. I enjoy going to the movies, and I enjoy watching things I don't like, so generally I make a good movie date, but afterwards I'm generally going to announce it wasn't very good. Curmudgeonly character aside, I really enjoyed The Departed, The Prestige, Thor (damn that was good for a comic book movie), and a few others. My all-time favorites are all stuff that has a wild sense of style and play involving the medium of film itself, so things like Moulin Rouge.

C. I love mashups, anything I can dance to, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I'm also partial to Dire Straits, and have been known to tear up at the Defying Gravity song from Wicked (just the song, the musical and the book are so-so).

D. Thai, Korean Chinese, Greek, Mexican. And you can never go wrong with good seafood or a perfect burger.

The six things I could never do without
Books, paints, korean sandwiches, friends, dice, and [humorous list item 6 not found].
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Game theory, weird stories, and all things trivia, the rarity of certain types of interesting sharks, the cultures that did or did not invent fermentation of alcohol and leavening of bread, various awesome failed experimental airplanes of the last 70 years, and so on.

I am inherently fascinated by conspiracy theories. Not that I believe even a single one of them, I just find it amazing how stuff like that manages to worm into people's belief systems. Same with religion, really.
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to get out with friends. I spent the past year or so working at a Trader Joe's which killed my evenings, but now that I have a somewhat more standard job, I love hitting the Lamplighter and bringing Toto or George Michael to the karaoke masses. If I can't get out at all I'm usually working on my hobbies at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm just starting to try out polyamory, alongside my longterm girlfriend. We aren't looking specifically for unicorns or swinging, or a triad, or another couple, or a commune, etc. etc.. Basically we're both dating, and looking for new experiences. It's been fun so far!
You should message me if
You've suddenly found yourself bored for a few minutes and in need of a laugh or a game. You have this nagging sensation that somewhere there might be a person who can identify more dinosaurs than you. You need a rash identified (this reason will not be honored). I'm also available as a judge for competitive pillowfights. You need a ringer for your bar trivia night team. You like dinner to come with entertainment.

I'm all polyamorous and stuff now, my girlfriend is 100% on board and knows everything that's going on. Really though, if you're not poly or if you're looking for "the one," I am probably not said one.
