I am layed back, creative, and unusual.

My Self-Summary

Well, I finally uploaded some new pictures, so I guess it's time to update my profile, too.

I know what I want in life, and it's my career as a film-maker--a writer/director to be specific. I am fully committed to reaching that goal. Nothing is going to stop me. That said, I know it may take a long time to get there, so although it's priority number one, I guess I can't just put everything else on hold until then. Somewhere along the way, I'd like to meet a nice girl and fall in love. Not sure what the odds are, but I try to remain hopeful.

I just got my DSLR and I love it! I've wanted one for a long time, largely because I know it'll help me become a better film-maker. After all, if I can't take a good still picture, I certainly can't make good moving pictures. So it'll be good practice. I may even try to get some work as a photographer, once I put together a basic portfolio.

OK, now for some quick points to try and describe myself in a nutshell. This is the part where I tell you what a wonderful person I am. I'll try the list approach:

-I'm quite an unusual person, I'd say, but only in good ways. Well, mostly ;)

-I'm very creative and inventive.

-I have a good sense of humor, albeit unusual at times.

-I think about things--a lot! I'm basically a philosopher, and I'm constantly seeking to understand the world and my place in it. This is one of the reasons I am drawn to film--it is an excellent medium through which to explore all sorts of ideas.

-I believe in God, in a sense, but I'm not religious. I think anything beyond a belief that God exists is just speculation.

-I care about other people, and I try to be polite and considerate. I never want to hurt anyone. I care about animals, too. That is why I'm a vegetarian.

-I'd much rather spend time with a small group of close friends than a bunch of strangers.

-I'm reserved when I first meet someone, but once I get to know them a little, I become very fun and outgoing.

-I'm kind of a film buff, and my dream is to make my own (I may have already mentioned something about this). Right now, I'm slowly putting together a small film and visual effects studio. I've finally settled on a story for my first film. I have a lot of good material for it--I just need to bring it all together into a final script. I'm kind of busy right now, but I think I'm going to take a couple of weeks in January to finally hammer it out. I'm really looking forward to it.

-A pretty face will catch my attention, but only a keen intellect and a good heart will keep it.

-Finally, I'm a gentleman. I'll always treat a woman with respect.

Oh, and pay no attention to my "personality awards" below. If you haven't figured it out already, they're totally bogus.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, I'm trying to save up and buy the equipment I need to complete my studio. I'm also developing the story for my first project. It's sort of an action/romance/comedy, and I really like how it's shaping up. I have a decent job, and I enjoy it, but if all goes well, I'll be moving on to something more lucrative within the next few months (the equipment I need is expensive, and I'd rather not wait forever).

I’m really good at

plenty of things

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know. I tend to be pretty reserved when I first meet people, and probably seem very introverted, but then when I know them a little better, I open up and become just the opposite.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I don't know about FAVORITE books, but right now I'm reading Rebel Without a Crew, Quantum Enigma, and Entangled Minds.

My favorite movies include (in no particular order) The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Brahm Stoker's Dracula, Fight Club, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, The Matrix, Blade Runner, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Road Warrior, Dr. Strangelove, The Princess Bride, The Hunt for Red October, Kill Bill, Star Trek III, Snatch, Hero, Troy, Batman Begins, Broken Arrow, and many others which I forgot or neglected.

I like a lot of instrumental music (especially movie scores) and rock. I'm especially fond of Metallica's classic songs, and music by the band Apocalyptica, a group of cellists who play mostly rock music, and are well-known for doing their own instrumental versions of many classic Metallica songs.

My favorite foods are probably pizza, spaghetti, salad, kiwi, and fresh, organic pinneapple. Pierogis are good, too.

The six things I could never do without

Movies.
Memories.
Music.
Words that begin with "m," apparently

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I think about pretty much everything, but lately, most of my thoughts pertain to my career goals (in film) and how I will reach them. I also think a lot about the nature of the universe, science in general, the foolishness of religious dogma and intolerance, and what it would take for the human species to establish a lasting peace with itself and achieve long-term survival.

On a typical Friday night I am

Working.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I love educational programming--the Science channel, the History channel, National Geographic, Discovery, etc. Haven't watched too much of it lately, but it's great stuff.

You should message me if

You feel like it.
