My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm the kind of person who will walk four miles to work when it's snowing even if the T is working just fine. I'm happiest when I'm challenged, when I'm chasing something worth having that's just far enough out of reach. The biggest thrill in life for me is experiencing it, and my greatest fear is nothing new left to do.

I am an academic nerd with leanings towards linguistics/languages/literature. Languages were my first love and I find joy in being able to interact with people every day who otherwise would be trapped behind a language barrier for me.

I am as emotional as I am logical. You won't find me tempering excitement in order to avoid disappointment. I have a love affair with every emotion there is to experience in life, which is why I don't avoid the risks and the work involved in finding reward. I moved across the country sight unseen after college to Boston, a city where I had no contacts and no job, with the hopes of finding better opportunities than I had where I was. Now I have a wonderful job and a "family" of close friends, and I'm starting to lay down roots.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work in finance. When I get home, if I'm not out with friends or going on adventures I'm usually studying or reading.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Building time machines that move forward at the rate of 1sec/sec, cooking vegetables, finding the perfect thing to do to make a friend smile
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'd hope that the answer to this is that I'm human. That would be nice. It's possible that some need to take the time to absorb several features before the make the choice between human and bonobo or even human and baby seal, but USUALLY the answer has to be that I'm human
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
This changes very frequently, but some examples of favorite books would be Paradise Lost, To Kill a Mockingbird, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Sea Wolf, Love in a Dead Language, Half of a Yellow Sun.
Some movies: A Clockwork Orange, Bliss (Abdullah Oguz), Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog (not really a movie but I'm putting it here because it doesn't go anywhere else), Mean Girls, Mississippi Damned
Some shows: Mad Men, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Walking Dead, Friends, Breaking Bad, Bob's Burgers
Some music: Nina Simone, Jason Mraz, Calle 13, Zemfira, Tracy Chapman, Evanescence
Some food: good old greasy spoon diners, falafel, pickled daikon, baked cheese, pesto chicken sandwiches, fresh spinach and grapes, fancy olives
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Things I haven't explored/learned/done. I would definitely weep if there was nothing left to conquer.
2. Cuddles/sex/romance
3. Kindness of/to strangers
4. Tea. Because you gotta have tea.
5. Laughter
6. A stick to wave at the hooligans who are always on my lawn
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How can I make someone smile today, what's one more perspective to understand on this new issue, what else can I learn
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Typical? What is this typical Friday night you speak of?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I still talk to my parents pretty much every day.
