My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm sitting in a coffee shop right now, as I often do. An elderly man and woman are flirting quietly a few tables over. The ring on the woman's left hand is not a wedding ring and, even though they laugh together and hold eye contact, they're careful not to touch across the tiny table.

I guess dating doesn't get old, even when we do.

After years of talking about it, I finally moved to Santa Barbara from my cozy, little San Luis Obispo in December 2014.

My profile name is the recurring nickname SLO gave me. I taught salsa lessons there for many years. During every trip downtown, someone would inevitably walk up to me and say, "Hey! It's the salsa guy!!" Yes... it's me. I'm TheSalsaGuy.

Now in SB I've been enjoying my slow explorations, and my anonymity. What's your favorite spot around here? Care to show me?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
- Writing my book
- Playing guitar very badly
- Dancing whenever I can
- Spending time with good friends
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- telling stories
- climbing rocks
- finding the right words
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The first thing? Perhaps that I'm tall, or the way I walk.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Too many to count. I enjoy books that are beautifully written, and the topic matters much less.
The Name of the Wind, His Dark Materials, Game of Thrones, The Tiger's Wife, The Night Circus.... That's definitely a partial list.
Movies: The Sting or maybe The Usual Suspects (That's my standard response, but the better answer is that I enjoy movies with complexity.)
Music: blues
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Time spent outdoors.
Time spent alone.
Plans for the future.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- How things work.
- How things could work better.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going to the beach, dancing salsa, hanging out with friends, solving the world's problems in my head.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm bad at football and baseball. Really bad. I understand I could get better but, for me, it's all about the adventure sports. Right now, it's rock climbing. I'd like to get a dual sport motorcycle. And then paragliding :)

Also, I love trains with an unreasonable passion.
