My self-summary
I'm sitting in a coffee shop right now, as I often do. An elderly man and woman are flirting quietly a few tables away. The ring on the woman's left hand is not a wedding ring and, even though they laugh and smile and hold eye contact, they're careful not to touch across the tiny table.

Everyone acts the same on a first date.

I lived in San Luis Obispo before moving to Santa Barbara.

I taught salsa lessons there for many years. Every time I went downtown, someone would stop me and say, "Hey! It's the salsa guy!!" Yes... it's me. I'm TheSalsaGuy. The truth is I've started to enjoy other dances, too, but salsa will always be special.

Now in SB I've been enjoying my new adventures, my new places, and my new motorcycle, with frequent dance trips to LA. What's your favorite spot? Care to show me?
What I’m doing with my life
- Writing my book
- Playing guitar very badly (practice, practice)
- Dancing whenever I can
- Spending time with good friends
I’m really good at
- telling stories
- climbing rocks
- finding the right words
The first things people usually notice about me
The first thing? Perhaps that I'm tall, or the way I walk.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Too many to count. I enjoy books that are beautifully written, and the topic matters much less.
The Name of the Wind, His Dark Materials, Game of Thrones, The Tiger's Wife, The Night Circus.... That's definitely a partial list.
Movies: The Sting or maybe The Usual Suspects (That's my standard response, but the better answer is that I enjoy movies with complexity.)
Music: blues
The six things I could never do without
Time spent outdoors.
Time spent alone.
Plans for the future.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- How things work.
- How things could work better.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going to the beach, dancing salsa, hanging out with friends, or embarking on a road trip.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm bad at football and baseball. Really bad. For me, it's all about the adventure sports. Right now, it's rock climbing. I recently bought a cruiser motorcycle. Next up, paragliding :)

Also, I love trains.
You should message me if
- You think the world is interesting.
- You are good at something.
- You want to challenge me to a battle of wits.
