It has been great to plumb the depths of Orlando since I moved here, but travelling farther afield has also been thrilling. I have a list of places to visit, and even if I do not get to all of them, it is going to be a lot of fun to try. I even find looking over maps of Florida to be enjoyable, as they frequently make me wonder what might wait for me if I take off on a road trip to the location they depict.
It can be equally exciting to both throw myself deeply into a topic, exploring its intricacies, as well as dabbling in order to find out if something is worth exploring in the first place. Recent interests have included making the perfect grilled cheese sandwich, German-style board games, and how cats purr (the best, most ridiculous, theory I have heard is that they have bees).
While I can engage in this exploration alone, there are very few things that I can do alone that I do not enjoy more doing it with other people. Getting alternative perspectives from someone who is smart and funny accentuates any experience, and being able to share your joy at experiencing a particular moment only makes it better.
