I am artistic, absurd, and lite.

My Self-Summary

I recently graduated college with a degree in studio art. I was damn good at school and now I'm going through a bit of a post grad crisis. I can be terribly shy around new people which makes post school dating a bit of a challenge. Once I warm up its all fun n' games as I've got quite the sense of humor. I do have a lot of tattoos. Some people seem to really like them(works out for me) some people aren't aware of their existence (my grandma) and I'd like to keep it that way. Will I add to this later? Only time will tell.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently a professional tutor at a University. I live in my parents old house fixing it up and getting it ready to sell. I am eagerly looking to pursue an MFA in the near future (I really like school, like a lot.)

I'm also a music director and deejay for an internet radio station though its more of a volunteer type gig.

I’m really good at

describing the social and political influences around historical works of art(I'm a critical theorist if you haven't heard)

I like to think of myself as a pretty gosh darn good baker

The first things people usually notice about me

usually my glasses, followed by the tattoos

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I tend to read a lot of different types of books as an art historian I collect a lot of art books and read essays on art criticism. I do enjoy Sarah Vowell and David Sedaris as well as the old existentialist writers but who doesn't? I'm also into a lot of plays particularly the absurdest playwrights. Lastly I'm pretty into comic books mostly DC, Vertigo and a heaping dose of bizarre manga.

I love animation of all kinds. I'm pretty crazy about Wes Anderson, David Lynch, Werner Herzog, Alejandro Jodorowsky, and Jean-Luc Godard.

Music is my second love after art. I've been a music director for a number of years. I enjoy a vast majority of genres and keep up with a lot of the hip new stuff. Some of my all time favorites are Pavement, Stone Roses, Yo Le Tengo, The Smiths, Black Flag

I don't eat red meat or white fish. Everything else is fair game I love trying exotic food, the crazier the better. I've been on the fence for a long time on becoming a vegetarian.

The six things I could never do without

1. the MOMA
2. music
3. internet
4. comic books
5. color
6. universal health care(oh no wait scratch that last one I don't live in one of the other developed countries but I can dream right?)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future and whether or not I can make it as an artist or if I'm better off looking into the behind the scenes portion of the art world which is just as challenging.

On a typical Friday night I am

probably watching a movie since that is when movies come out or staying in, most of my friends are reverse vampires as a result I spend more time going out during the day.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I use children's beach towels for showering(I just find they work better)
