I am laid back, bit intorverted, and a little geeky.

My Self-Summary

Heyas, I'm Ryan. I'm currently living by myself in a new(ish) city and I'm looking to expand my social circle beyond the three people here that I know. I like going out and trying new things, like shows, festivals, restaurants, etc., but I feel immensely awkward heading out to stuff by myself. I'm up for anything that will get me out of the apartment and interacting with people.

I used to be a theatre student at the University of Guelph, around forth year I came to the conclusion that it wasn't the scene for me. I got sick of the egos and the cliques, and the thought of having to sell yourself constantly in order to pay the rent wasn't a pleasant thought. So now I'm studying to be an accountant. A bit of a 180 career wise, but I was good at it in high school (and apparently now in college) and it earns plays the rent on a regular basis.

Personality wise, I'm a bit of a quiet guy. I'm not a big fan of huge crowds or places where people have to yell in order to be heard. I'm also a bit of a geek. It's not what I consider a huge part of who I am, I'm just a regular guy who happens to like geeky stuff. I do sometimes like to have a night out at the bar and talk about the hockey game last night (go sens)

What I’m doing with my life

Currently going to a college to get my degree in accounting. The EXCITEMENT!!!!

I’m really good at

I like to try an be creative when I can. I like to draw on occasion. I did a bunch of theatre, so I guess I'm an okay actor, designer.

Apparently I'm good at adding.

The first things people usually notice about me

Not sure. I'm pretty quiet when I'm around new people. Maybe my chin? or my social awkwardness?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

It's LIST TIME!!! WHOOO! I'm going to go ahead and do the whole list every example thing, not because knowing specifics really matters, but because this damn site wants 1000 words from me, and dammit, my ocd is kicking in. And yes this blurb is only here to reach that goal. And if I have to copy out the lyrics to "1000 Words" from FFX-2 then I'll do that as well dammit!

Books: I tend to like the classics. Occasionally I dable into the fantasy/scifi stuff, but I really haven't been into that since highschool, most of it's just generic fluff now.
Right now I'm reading Dante's Divine comedy.
Past Favourites include:
-LOTR
-Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
-Sherlock Holmes
-Wicked
-Twelve Kingdoms
-Neverwhere

MOVIES: Here's where I get more nerdy, I tend to watch a lot of sci-fi, fantasy, anime and all that junk.
-Serenity
-Any Miyazaki flick
-Ghostbusters
-Back to the Future
-Clue The Movie

TV, just cause:
-Most of Joss Whedon's stuff, Firefly being tops. Watching dollhouse, but frankly I'm sick of Dushku
-HIMYM, because NPH is awesome
-Big Bang Theory
-The Venture Bros
-Castle

Music: I like a wide variety of stuff, classical to metal. It changes a lot. Some stuff that I'm into right now are
-The Protomen
-Apocalyptica
-Everclear
-Jim's Big Ego

Food: I like a lot of different food, thai, japanese, indian. I'll try anything once.

The six things I could never do without

-A map. I get lost easily in new places
-Some sort of creative outlet. I tend to haul around my sketchbook most places.
- MP3 player. I like to have something to listen to on the go.
- Friends. Too much isolation makes me go crazy.
- Beer. I don't go out to get drunk, but I do enjoy a good brew in the evenings.
- Internets. It's my main form of communication and entertainment.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Too much stuff lately. My head hurts.

On a typical Friday night I am

Trying to find an excuse to get out of the apartment. Preferably out of Hamilton.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I was once kicked out of a mandatory band ensemble for gross incompetence.

You should message me if

You're looking to have a fun night out. Or in, either works.
