My self-summary
I'm an open minded and curious guy with a geeky flavour.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm French and work as a software engineer for a living. Building software embodies what I love as an engineer, where a subtle mix of method and creativity is required to achieve solid and elegant solutions.
I like to learn anything about everything. I'm quite the bookworm in that regard and I enjoy reading non-fiction on various subjects: neuroscience, Buddhist philosophy, writing, economics, human biology or ancient Rome history. I also read a lot about my own craft - software development - and related fields.
Music has a very special place in my life. I am an ever-learning guitarist and more recently I also developed an interest in music production (recording and engineering) despite being a terribly inefficient musician and producer :)
I’m really good at
Cracking geeky pop culture jokes, playing air drums and getting lost even when I have a map and clear instructions.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: loads of non-fiction on various subjects, which I usually choose on other people's recommendations or trendy web articles. As far as fiction is concerned, my main thing is scifi, from Herbert and Ursula Le Guin to Robert Charles Wilson and Dan Simmons. I do read occasionally older literature classics and (French and English) poetry.

Movies: I'm afraid I'm not very movie-literate (is that even a word?!). I like action flicks with a mostly humorous ambiance. Think Guy Ritchie or Tarantino.

Shows: I watch my share of TV shows, from stupid sitcoms to more epic series. Think The Big Bang Theory, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Game of Thrones and The Wire.

Music: mostly obscure sub-genres of metal, prog, avant-garde and all that jazz. Bands like Opeth, Katatonia, Enslaved, Arcturus, Animals As Leaders, etc. On the softer side I also like post-rock and ambient music. Neurosis, God is an astronaut, GY! BE, ...
I thoroughly enjoy baroque music (Bach first and foremost) and these past months I've been increasingly into modern jazz and world music, psytrance, goa and D'n'B.
Of course I also love my older rock classics that stood the test of time (think Dire Straits, ZZ Top, The Clash and others) and I will usually like most things that involve plucked strings.

Food: I enjoy a good japanese udon, a big greasy burger or a good old lentilles saucisse equally. Or more generally, simple but tasty stuff.
The six things I could never do without
I'm an Internet addict, it has become my primary entertainment, music discovery, and encyclopedic knowledge source while allowing me to keep contact with good friends and manage my time efficiently; it's a wonderful tool that I probably couldn't do without.
Other than that, my electric kettle (I drink tea in heavy quantities) and favorite mug, and my cheap mp3 portable player and its not so cheap self knot-tying earphones.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How incredibly complicated the simplest thing can be, from the cheapest electronic appliance to the century old tree in the park. How our culture and our environment influence to the deepest levels our neural pathways and personalities, and how can awareness of that fact can be used to change ourselves.
Thinking about the human notion of beauty, aesthetics and what makes a person, a sound or an object beautiful.

Also, who's Jon Snow's mother, should I have a green tea or a black tea, what the heck is a Monad and would it be reasonable to buy another guitar?
On a typical Friday night I am
At a concert, beer in hand, talking music with friends during the soundcheck. Also works with looking up the latest Game of Thrones episode or playing a treacherous cylon the BSG board game.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I'm not getting out of my apartment, I'm most likely wearing a good old pair of ugly but incredibly comfortable large jogging pants.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–33
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
You know how to fix someone who has a very poor cinematographic culture.
You know how to clap in rhythm at a prog rock concert. (Bonus points: at a jazz concert!)
You can talk in depth about your passion for hours and are willing to share it with a complete newbie. And reciprocally.
You want to share and discuss about lesser known music genres and artists and why you love what they do.
You want to help my study the correlation between alcohol and foreign language fluency (and that can include teaching me swear words and slang in your favourite language).
You know that there's always more than meets the eye and you keep an open mind.
