My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I would say that I'm one in a billion, but that would imply that there are six others of me walking around on this planet and I find that deeply disconcerting. For simplicity's sake, let's just say that I'm unique. I think we all grow up thinking we are good people, but at some point I began to question whether I do things that good people do and I didn't like the answer. Now if I get the opportunity to be a good Samaritan, I do my best to be helpful. My life's goal is to continue to learn and improve myself as well as the world around me. I don't care for gender roles, I don't get involved in drama, and I believe in the solidarity of the human race (though I also believe it to be a thing of the future because there are many people--I'm being polite--out there today that will never contribute).

On this site, I am looking forward to finding someone with whom I can express my perpetual love through mutual respect and relentless torment. Ultimately I'm trying to find someone with whom I'll have no secrets. I don't know if such a thing is possible, but I'd like to try.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work at a biotech firm in the R&D department. I'm pretty low on the totem pole, but it's my first time in the industry and I'm pretty excited. I'm also in a masters program for Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, so my time is at a premium, alas.

I spent a brief stint as a high school teacher, and after deciding that it wasn't for me, I spent a less brief stint as a substitute teacher while pursuing my masters.

Also apparently answering a million questions on OKC. Just in case you're wondering, they get really pointless after about 700.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Playing devil's advocate and speaking about matters that matter. Also befriending high school kids with potential Asperger's (and those without) who love Doctor Who and anime. If you like, I've got literally dozens of high-school-age kids that would vouch for my coolness factor.
The first things people usually notice about me

You'll see. (Wow, doesn't that have a foreboding tone when in the context of an internet site?)

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My important things are loved ones, stories, technology, nature, faraway destinations, and a really comfortable chair (my employment options seem to always involve a lot of standing).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Biotechnology papers, advances in medicine, technology (mobile tech, aerial wind turbines, hyperloop and all sorts), novels with uncompromising protagonists, what makes an innovative videogame, why I enjoy Game of Thrones and Walking Dead despite the fact that there is no happiness to be found for anyone.

Why do seemingly nice, intelligent women put photos of themselves in bikinis when they would undoubtedly refuse to talk to a guy with a shirtless pic on his profile? It's not necessary.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Undoubtedly drinking some wine or beer with a pizza and Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I think the longer you're on this site, the longer your profile...

I will probably never step foot in a jewelry store. Diamonds are ridiculous. Not a fan of wedding rings, either. Too temporary. Prefer wedding face tattoos. (That is mostly true.)

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
... you are intelligent and you care about the future (both your personal and our collective futures); you're liberal; you're educated and you enjoy reading; you are opinionated; you exercise semi-often and at least know what eating healthy means, but also like to indulge; you like staying indoors, but would be willing to come out hiking and doing things outdoors with me, or better yet, will drag me outside; you like nerdy kinds of things like sci-fi and fantasy genres, video games, science, and so on...

I apologize in advance if I don't respond to messages here. I used to think it was rude, but I've come to realize that it may be more so to point out our incompatibility. Attraction means a lot, and I also think match % is important. Algorithms. Yes, they mean something. But no, that's not all that matters. That said, I think it's childish and cowardly to ignore people after you go on a date and I've had it happen to me more than enough. Tell a person you're not interested rather than leaving them hanging. If you're the kind of person that has done or would do this, either grow up or stay away. When I'm faced with hard decisions, I tend to ask myself: "What should I do?" or "What would a mature adult do?" Points to you if you do the same.
