Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I would say that I'm one in a billion, but that would imply that
there are six others of me walking around on this planet and I find
that deeply disconcerting. For simplicity's sake, let's just say
that I'm unique. I think we all grow up thinking we are good
people, but at some point I began to question whether I do things
that good people do and I didn't like the answer. Now if I get the
opportunity to be a good Samaritan, I do my best to be helpful. My
life's goal is to continue to learn and improve myself as well as
the world around me.
I'm not particularly flashy or spontaneous and I've been told that
I have a flat affect. I don't care for gender roles, I don't get
involved in drama, and I believe in the solidarity of the human
race (though I also believe it to be a thing of the future because
there are many people--or insert better, preferably more profane
descriptor--out there today that will never contribute).
On this site, I am looking forward to finding someone with whom I
can express my perpetual love through mutual respect and relentless
torment. Ultimately I'm trying to find someone with whom I'll have
no secrets. I don't know if such a thing is possible, but I'd like
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Edit: Turned 30 today (June 17th). Counting on that making me
irresistible. Ladies! I'm mature! I made it to a milestone and I'm
I work at a biotech firm in the R&D department. I enjoy it and
it's fulfilling. And it's science-y.
I spent a brief stint as a high school teacher, and after deciding
that it wasn't for me, I spent a less brief stint as a substitute
teacher while pursuing my masters.
Also apparently answering a million questions on OKC. Just in case
you're wondering, they get really pointless after about 700.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Playing devil's advocate. Being introspective. Also befriending
high school kids with potential Asperger's (and those without) who
love Doctor Who and anime. As a teacher, I particularly liked
lavishing the nerdy kids with attention and making them feel good
about themselves. If you like, I've got literally dozens of
high-school-age kids that would vouch for my coolness factor.
I'm generally good at helping people to feel better. I've also been
known to make inane utterances to tease a chuckle out of peers.
After such an utterance, I was recently called an "adorable nerd."
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
You'll see. (Wow, doesn't that have a foreboding tone when in the
context of an internet site?)

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My important things are loved ones, stories, technology, nature,
faraway destinations, and a really comfortable chair (my employment
options seem to always involve a lot of standing).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Advances in medicine, technology, novels with uncompromising
protagonists, what makes an innovative videogame, why I enjoy Game
of Thrones and Walking Dead despite the fact that there is no
happiness to be found for anyone.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Doing what I do best: wine/beer, pizza and Netflix/videogames.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
At the ripe old age of 29, I realized that I pronounced the word
"comfortable" as "comf-'turble" and set to change that... to its
correct pronunciation of "com-for-'tab-leh."
I enjoy beer and wine, going to breweries, happy hour, finding new
restaurants with friends, hiking, travel, going to baseball and
hockey games, going to the gym, and all of the things that you'll
see on every profile on here. I'm social, I go outside... but
ultimately my natural habitat is my home. When I'm not going out,
I'm spending much of my time at home alone reading, watching shows
and sports, and playing video games, and I enjoy it that way. I'm
an introvert. That doesn't mean I have no social skills--it just
means that I need time to myself to recharge.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
... you like nerdy kinds of things like sci-fi and fantasy,
videogames, science, and so on... Hell, message me even if you
don't, but you're OK with me liking those things. I prefer if you
message me because you like what you read and not just what you
see. That said, I can't promise I'll always respond, and I
apologize in advance if I don't.
I look for a certain level of maturity in women I talk to on here.
I try not to leave people hanging after we've talked for a while,
or after we've gone on a date. It's more cruel to do so than to
just tell someone you're not interested. When I'm faced with hard
decisions, I tend to ask myself: "What should I do?" or "What would
a mature adult do?" Points to you if you do the same.
