I am funny, cute, and huggable.

My Self-Summary

I'm a bilingual, funny, cute, huggable little Dutch girl. I like books (Terry Prachett, Stephen King, Tom Holt and many, many more, ooh! ooh! Phillip Pullman! and Jasper Fforde! and Douglas Adams, and...), movies (Lucky Number Slevin, Die Hard - except DH2, of course -, Love Actually, Office Space, and again, many, many more) and all kinds of other stuff. I, of course, how original, greatly dislike filling in these kinds of summaries.

Anything else, just ask.

Oh, and obviously I am very fond of the comma...

What I’m doing with my life

Working and sleeping mainly, I'm recovering from Mono at the moment, hoping to feel better soon.

*Update* - Feeling much better now. Still not doing much with my life, but I'm no longer exhausted, so who knows what the future may bring...

I’m really good at

laughing. I'm like Tickle-Me-Elmo, remember those? And I'm good at cooking, sewing, writing and teaching. Keep an eye on me, I'll be the next Martha Stewart, bar the whole prison-thing, naturally.

And apparently judging. OkC just told me I went through all my quick-matches and I'll have to wait a while for fresh meat... Okay, I'm a little impressed with myself right now.

The first things people usually notice about me

My hair. It's usually dyed (sorry, coloured, never say die) a fabulous shade of red.

Past experience dictates that I should tell you here that the first thing you'll probably notice about me is that I'm bigger than you thought (and, no, I don't mean taller ;-) ). But don't let that scare you, it's usually also the first thing people forget about me.

And finally: my voice. Not for singing, though, I'm definitely not musically inclined. People have been telling me I have a sexy voice for years. I never really believed them until I heard a long voicemail I left with a friend recently and I guess they're right. I have a very nice voice.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I thought I'd covered that. Apart from the food. I'll try anything once, but keep mushrooms (fancy mold), pork (nothing religious, just don't like the taste) and eggs (aborted chickens) far away from me, please.

And music. That's a toughie. You see, I'll listen to almost anything (except U2 and Coldplay, and yes, I know I'm the only one); music is just stuff in the background while I read my book.

Also, about the books: for examples of what I like and don't like, check out my journal. There isn't much there yet (just a few books), but I'm hoping I'll stick to this journal thing longer than I stuck to field hockey, ballet and clarinet lessons when I was a kid (i.e. more than a couple of months). *Update* - Guess I failed here. I have been planning to post new reviews, but just haven't found the time. I'll try harder...

Now, I know I say in that journal that I'm open to suggestions and that I'll read anything, but if you suggest to me anything by Dan Brown, please just stand there while I point and laugh, okay? I should probably also add that I tried reading Sci-Fi (the really hardcore stuff, Heinlein, Dan Simmons and such) and it just made me giggle. But if you make a strong case, I promise I'll give it a go.

And finally, I've seen people list their favorite TV shows here, so I figured I'd give that a go too: The West Wing (though sadly that is over now and how I miss it), How I Met Your Mother, Lost and Heroes, these are the shows I download, because I can't wait for the Dutch networks to air them. The ones I don't download, but watch religiously are all BBC shows, such as Mock the Week, QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and last but not least Top Gear, cute men in hot cars, who wouldn't love it?

The six things I could never do without

Assuming the necessary, life supporting elements are given, I'd say the six things I could never do without are books, hugs, bad jokes, phone, wallet, cigarettes. And my keys, but that makes it seven, so I'll just have to crash at your place, I guess ;-)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

stupid stuff. Like why most alarm clocks have a snooze time of 9 minutes. Or why a kamikaze pilot would need to wear a helmet. Or if I have any food in my fridge. Or what movie to watch. Or what book to read. You know, stuff. Oh.. and wombats. Wombats *ROCK*

On a typical Friday night I am

Right now? Asleep. The whole mono-thing, you know? On any other Friday night I am up for almost anything.

*Update* - Seeing as I am no longer suffering from Mono, I'll be up for anything from now on.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I can recite the alphabet backwards and I'm sort of proud of that.

I once threw my sister into a wardrobe door and smashed her front teeth.

When I'm bored I calculate how old I am in days and then convert that into weeks all in my head and I'm sort of proud of that too.

You should message me if

You feel like it. Just so long as I can say "No thank you" (i.e. ignore you) without hurting your feelings.
